Strange post-game statements from Sloan and KOC

I welcome change in the coaching department. I would be intrigued to see Johnson finish the year with Hornacek the primary assistant to show him the ropes, but if Hornacek became the next head coach, Corbin would have to be the next assistant or he'd be gone.

I would also like the Jazz to explore bringing someone in that has a history or some sort of acumen for doing his homework on other players and all manner of advanced metrics to help the team actually strategize. It seems to me the only time the Jazz play chess on the court is when they see a big matchup to exploit in the pick and roll.

Yeah I really doubt it has anything to do with sloans coaching career. I think it's either
1. A trade
2. Playing time/rotations

A trade make sense, but Playing time with these weird comments doesn't make any sense imo.

I find it interesting that there's no mention of Greg with all of this. However, Larry Bird was used by Pacers ownership to fire O'Brien.

IMO, there are 4 reasons for the meeting.
1.) O'Connor was unhappy with one of Utah's coaching moves and wanted to 'discuss' it with the coaches
2.) O'Connor sees a major flaw in one of Utah's rotation players and wanted to get the coaches insights on whether or not to look to trade that player as soon as possible
3.) O'Connor was contacted by a GM about a potential trade before/during the game and wanted to discuss it with the coaches
4.) O'Connor fired/asked Jerry to step down as head coach

Option #1: Was O'Connor so angry/fed-up over something that he had to speak with the coaches immediately after the game? Could he not wait until tomorrow to speak with the coaches about the changes he wants to see?
Option #2: Kirilenko once again not only took the lowest percentage shots he can take (long 2-pointers), several times he would deviate from Utah's set offense. Just taking 1-2 probing dribbles throws off the timing and too often he likes to experiment to see what's there. Inexcusable for a player w/his experience. If there was a player I'd look to ship out immediately - it would be AK. Get Miles into the SL where he belongs and Hayward more time in the rotation.
Option #3: Again, what's the rush? If the trade deadline were tonight or tomorrow I'd understand, but most GM's like to wait to make a major move until after all-star break, when alot of the real talk gets done.
Opiton #4:Considering the conservative nature and emphasis on stability of the entire franchise for the past 20+ seasons, I can't imagine this being the case.

Thursday's cancelled practice throws another wrench into things. Maybe they cancelled practice to let Deron's wrist heal, or maybe they cancelled it because they don't want a guy practicing with the team who isn't part of their immediate plans, or maybe they cancelled practice so the coaches can meet and make some substantial changes to their offensive systems and defensive strategies - but for a franchise whose actions are pretty easy to predict, this is very strange. If I was a betting man, I'd take option #1, followed by #2. Just my $0.02

+1 Somethin's up and it may not be good.

Or It could just be that everybody was screaming at each other for 5 mins in the locker room. It has happened before with Larry Miller in 2005 with Booz sitting on a suit. Strange coincidence then that something like that, if it did happen, should have happened again on the same night Booz was visiting.

But Larry's gone and KOC is 3rd in the chain of command. I don't see Greg having the gumption to do something like that either, and there's no mention of him in these tweets.

Weird situation.

From Ross Siler's Twitter:

After hours (seriously) of discussion during our time on the beat, Buckley and I concluded Jerry never would resign midseason. It just defies everything he's about. The Jazz also aren't the kind of org. that makes decisions in immediate aftermath of emotional game.

If Jerry goes out like this, that ain't right. Let him finish out the season and leave with dignity. The team issues are not Jerry's, it is the players and the guy that made the cocktail that need to be held accountable.
