https://www.yahoo.com/travel/the-definitive-and-final-ranking-of-all-50-states-122796477147.html

Purely arbitrary state rankings based on...whatever these guys decided to base it on apparently.

For fun let's start here:

46. Utah
To this day Utah is still amazed it managed to host the Olympics.

beat out by New Mexico, which rated a whopping 23 spots higher due to...wait for it....

23. New Mexico
GREEN. CHILE. Also sand. And, like, pretty good skiing.

Looked at #1 Michigan and #50 Florida. No reason to look in between. Someone very dumb wrote it.

yep Should be

#50 N. Dakota
.
.
.
#1 S. Dakota

How much Bakken Oil is in S.D.? I'd go for the 3 degrees warmer weather in the winter, though. Clearly, you are biased, for whatever reason. Homestate boosterism, I'd say.

I've decided that the "Peoples' Republik of Kalifornia" is beyond my help, and it would be a better fate for it to slide off into the Pacific rather than go one more year with Dem governance. Whenever you have to claim "Peoples"" anything, everybody knows it's a band of fascists demagoguing the people. So I'm moving to AZ. The place most likely to be forgotten by the government. And, well, who the hell knows what's going on there, anyway.

i would think california, michigan and marlyand are the 3 worst cities to live in :P but i know nothing abut this subject. so its a guess

Nobody ever voluntarily moves into a democratic state anymore. You have to be in the armed services, or a government employee being relocated to get a job there. All the real businesses are closing their doors and walking away somewhere.

I have not heard of those cities. I do know that California is huge and very different between cities. Its hard not to rank California high based on the amount of variety. From conservative cities to liberal cities. Largely Dense cities to beautiful rural cities. Wine country in the north and south parts, beaches, night life, the red woods, high tech areas, and more. I am not a huge fan of California in general but it has to at least be top 10 in any state ranking.

Personally I wish every ranking would put Utah last so people would stop moving here, especially all the annoying people who say how much it sucks here and is better where they are from.

Having been to every state I can say whoever did this ranking knows nothing about the states and just pulled this out of their ***.

I think I would go California, NY, Oregon, Utah and North Carolina as 5 of my top 10 in some order. Not sure what the rest of my top ten would be. New Mexico and Texas would be near the bottom for me.

If only all of America was like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Alabama. Damn we'd have one hell of an economy.

That's why they are called states and not provinces. When the US was founded people thought of themselves as Virginians, New Yorkers, etc more so than Americans. In very much the same way that Germans think of themselves as German more so than European. There would have been no point in naming it The United States of America if people didn't feel that way. They would have just called it America.
