I spent a good bit of time in NZ..... seemed like they were hyper-conscious of non-native trees and bushes. But maybe that's particularly true of the areas in which I spend the most time (Coromandel Peninsula, and parts of the south island). You sell most of your stuff to urban buyers?
Ah ok.. those areas people seem to prefer natives... yeah we sell mostly to urban buyers so they don't much care whether they are natives or not as long as they look good for their homes.. fashion has a lot to do with it, if they see their friends growing it and looking nice they'll more often than not just get the same ones. Gone are the days when u have housewives trying different plants spending all day in the garden, these days it's all about maximum impact, minimum care/effort.
