This match-up

Havlicek, Dray starts. Barry, Hay can play both SG. Peja gets back-up SF minutes. Ibaka back up PF and spot minutes at C for added spacing.

Normally I would play Peja at Sf havlicek at SG

Artis is a superb post-defender, but I'm not sure how good his lateral-mobility will be if you're going up against point-guards who will screen you into oblivion. It took three top 10 all-time defenders in Pippen, Jordan, and Rodman to beat the Jazz in 6 games-- note their frame sizes. Those are the sorts of players you need to stymie all-time great PGs.

Fair enough critique. Thank you. Would even have been a fair critique if you didn't say my team won. At least you put some thought into it and used your bball knowledge instead of just spewing "but Okur, but not big name center".


To answer this particular critique, I would argue that Gilmore was actually a very solid help defender. He had to deal with a plethora of smaller faster players in his era, including Hayes himself actually, and consistently put up strong performances. As well you would have to remember, we can now play the zone, and modifications thereof. In a world of non-zone defenses he averaged better than 3 blocks per. Also, a defense anchored in the middle by Okur (because we all know Boozer's influence) took an upstart Jazz team to the WCF. All-world he was not, but passable. Lastly, in terms of Gilmore, I would have to remind everyone that Gilmore averaged better than 20 PPG in his best years too. I do not see Hayes doing much to slow Gilmore down in the post, considering he gives up better than 4 inches in height and probably 6 in reach.

Look at the Gilmore picture. That is Hayes right there in the picture. Enough said.
 
To address the issue of team cohesiveness, I would just say that part of my selection process involved taking players that would happily play off of all-time great playmakers, were at their best in a team environment, and could fill in the gaps. I have that in every player from 1-12. Isiah and LBJ together would be a coach's wet dream. The offense can come from all over the place, with enough defensive powerhouses to balance it all out. Spacing, athleticism, team play, assists through the roof (and not just from one guy, from many). This team will play the way most all-star teams do, but with stellar defense to boot. Every guy on this team would root for every other guy, and they all come to win, that is all. Big personalities, but minimal "egos", top notch talent. Win is what this team does. That's all.

I believe in my team. Just because I built the team for votes doesn't mean I also didn't build a team that works well together, maximizes the positives and minimizes the negatives.


And you still have only argued your straw man, not said anything about the team.

I did make a point about your team. I don't like Okur starting for you, let alone even on the team.. You'd be a lot better off starting Gobert. Or putting Kemp or Love in there. Okur does not belong in there.

Other than that, I like the big 3 Isaiah, Carter, Lebron, that would be a a fun team to watch. Isaiah adds what Lebron lacks, and that's the refuse to lose mentality.

I don't know who's a worse coach though, you or him. He first has Peja starting at the 2, then Draymond Green. SMH. I guess you are by a slight edge. Only because you know what position Okur plays. He just shouldn't be playing.

Okur sucks, sorry. Rim protection> stretchy big guys every day of the week.

In this series only. It depends on the match ups and needs of the game. In this one I felt that drawing either Russell or Hayes away from the basket, to spread the floor as it were, was initially more important than kemps overall athleticism. It will probably change with other match ups. Besides this is the fun part, playing what if.

Yeah and on my team, for this series, Okur has Gilmore. Oh and LBJ, Carter, and Thomas. He serves his purpose and does so nicely.
