Mad Max Fury Road

Wait this was called FURY road? I thought it was FURRY road. Mad Max's Furry Road. Thought it was a porn.

I hadn't seen it when this thread was made, but I've seen it twice now and think rather highly of it.

To those who said it needed more "story": I think that's a vague critique. Omission is a fundamentally intricate aspect of film and Fury Road uses it (of character background, the world, the religious propaganda, politics, inner thought, etc.) in a way that makes it function allegorically, which is something I'm not sure I've seen a fast paced action movie ever do before.

Solid critique. I felt it needed a bit more plot but definitely agree with your post. That said, my biggest complaint from the movie is Hardy. He has zero percent of the charisma Gibson had and while I know it was really Furiosa's movie, his role was a major one.

Deciding who is the film's main character is an interesting question. It's something I think is present in much of literature and film. Is Othello really about Otthello, or is it about Iago? Iago probably has more lines than the rest of the characters combined, and he is the one that causes every major event in the play, yet he's always regarded is nothing more than the "villain." Is Wuthering Heights really about Heathcliff? If so, why tell the story through the eyes and ears of Lockwood? By telling it through him, does that mean the novel is really about how the story of Heathcliff and Catherine affects Lockwood? Similarly, is Shawshank Redemption (the novela or movie) about Andy Dufresne or is it about Red and how observing Andy changed him? The heart of the question is what do we really mean by "main character" or "protagonist"? And why does that matter? I'm not totally sure. I think Fury Road presents a similar question with Max/Furiosa.

'Mad Max: Fury Road' Fans Take Over Amazon Page For Edible Silver Spray

Very few movies ever see anything close to universal praise, and even fewer of those are action flicks. Mad Max: Fury Road is the exception to that rule: it's a loud, brash, action-packed movie that's drawing in positive reviews from seemingly everyone. Like every film, it has its detractors — but they're being drowned out by the ridiculous amount of acclaim the film is receiving.

One of the reasons why the movie is so good is because of the world it created. The War Boys aren't your average, run-of-the-mill wasteland bandits — they're an army of irradiated mutants who believe their ruler will lead them to the gates of Valhalla. It sounds simple on paper, but it's done so perfectly throughout the film that you start to believe something like that could actually happen.

In fact, it may have already begun.

The War Boys have taken over the Amazon page for Wilton Edible Silver Mist (basically spray paint for cakes), and it's just as hilarious and awesome as it sounds:

There are plenty of Amazon pages with funny reviews, but this is on another level. Despite having first appeared only a week ago, the Edible Mist page has been completely dominated by the War Boys' reviews — and it doesn't look like that's about to change anytime soon.

While most companies would be quick to delete the joke reviews, the folks over at Wilton have embraced it: not only are the reviews still up, but the FAQ section has been updated to address many of the War Boys' concerns.

If you really think about it, leaving the joke reviews up is good marketing. The people running the site don't catch flak for deleting the reviews, and masses of people will head to the Amazon page to see just how many of the reviews there really are — something they probably wouldn't have done otherwise. After all, did you even know what Edible Mist was before reading this?

At least we know that when society crumbles and bandits dominate the wasteland, Wilton will have our backs... everyone will be shiny and chrome!

I watched the show recently. I don't know what to think. I'm not a fan of action movies at all. This was an action movie. I felt like it was well done as far as that goes. I'm not and have never been into rock music, or big vehicles, or motorcycles, so I feel like I had no appreciation for what the movie did best. Oh well.

Do you have a mangina?

Sure. I really don't get how people can like action movies. It's the same movie wearing different clothes, over and over and over. Cool, **** blows up. Whoopty ****ing do.

Good movie, especially if you are just kind of into metal. Like if you have been to a gwar show before but only kind of enjoyed it.

If I like motorcycles it makes me a man? I guess I don't follow...

I liked and enjoyed it but that is all. It seemed tidier than the last 2 Mad Max films for what it's worth.
