Trey Lyles Highlights from Last Night #3

To be fair, he had his best game of SL, and still shot 7-19 (36%) from the field.

He finished SL shooting 23/73 (31%). We are still perfectly in the clear to complain about his shooting %s

Subjectively, his misses in the last game were online and just a little short. I think I buy the legs getting into shape theory.

Rule #111: If you draft a player named Trey, expect him to have a crappy summer league.

He is living up to his namesake.

The scary thing is I hear that putting 2 Trey's together uses the multiplicative property. So Trey Burke's shooting percentage of .31 multiplied by Trey Lyles of .36 = .1116. So together they will shoot 11%.

I am excited! Are you?

So can I, never said you couldn't. I can tell guys like you (who were crying because Lyles, the 12th pick, wasn't as good as the first pick) what a baby you were being.

Again constructive criticism is not a bad thing. I'm not sitting here saying Lyles is going to be great, but to act like a 2 year old that never got his baba, is fickle. It's sheer overreaction, and somewhat hilarious to think you know more than professionals. IMO is some sort of inferiority complex.

Let me ask you this... The other day you were calling out his every mistake. I mean, it was every other post. Last night he plays really well, doing everything you and your basketball IQ said he could do, and not a word... Why is that?

Do the professionals get it right every single time? Why should everyone turn off their brains and have blind trust and faith in so called professionals?

Basketball isn't rocket science. A 5 year old child can watch the game and tell you who is doing good and who isnt.

It's also a lot of luck picking draftees. So called professionals can sink thousands of man hours into scouting and still pick a bust. No one can perfectly predict how a player will develop.

And also, a lot of people around here have been watching, playing, and discussing basketball for a long time, and know a thing or two about the game. Just because you can't analyze the game and players, doesn't mean we cant.

You guys are giving up on TB too early man, not every player hits their peak in their first few seasons, plus he only has 1 season under his belt with a good coach, on top of that he took coming off the bench like a man and didn't mope around the court......there's still time fellas

Not to mention more time to practice with the team. All the other players had been practicing together since the Salt lake Summer League. Lyles came in cold as the new guy. I think it would be natural to play hesitantly at first. Hope Trey can put in some time with whatever coaches are still around and perhaps do a stint at P3. I know this is vacation and/or national team time for most of the guys.
Good post

I'm as big a Lyles fan as anyone, but I am concerned about the effort he gave at times. Hope it's as simple as not being in playing shape and little chance to practice coming in for the last Utah SL.

Other than this I think he will be a good player completely worthy of the 12th pick

So are Trey Burke s shots... However something tells me Lyles shots will start falling more.. That being said I could easily see him being sub.500 for his career with his current shot selection
