You said you would trade Gobert plus two other starters. That's an entirely different thing that what you're saying now. I think it would be insane to gut our team for that one guy.

That's a tough call for sure. Utah FINALLY has a team without any major holes (we think) - and a pretty decent bench. Hypothetically (because NO only trades Davis in a fantasy league), Utah could afford to offer Gobert, Hayward and picks. I think the starter the Jazz could LEAST afford to give up is Exum. Look how long it took to get a PG after trading Deron. Face it, if Exum doesn't develop, the Jazz are in world of hurt: Neto, Cotton and Burke aren't going to be starters on a contender. And the Jazz have a horrible track record when it comes to free agent PG's.
***And notice I didn't include Favors in my projected trade

Absolutely I would. Pick any three. Goblet, Favors, Hood for Brow. I have Exum, Hayward, Brow. My team is better.
As long as I could keep Exum (who wasn't available) and Hayward or Favors, I'll trade everyone else for Brow.
You give me Exum, Brow and Hayward/Favors and 12 D-leaguers and I'll win a title within 3 years.
Superstars win titles (look at Cleveland). If you can get a superstar, you trade Favors, Gobert and Hood for a superstar.

Dude you either severely overestimate Brow or severely underestimate our players. New Orleans would for sure win more games than us if we gave them those players.
Even Gobert, Favors, and Hood is a ripoff for us.
1) Hood can already create offense on his own for us. Towards the end of the season it was Hood, Hayward, and Burke that created the bulk of our offense. And Hood did it most effectively towards the end since the defenses started to figure out Hayward.
2) Favors is our most complete player. Also, his shot has been getting better every year. He is probably the Jazz player that gets double teamed the most. Once he figures out how to be effective against double teams, our team will be very, very good.
3) Gobert is already one of the best defensive bigs in the league. He will also be in DPOY contention this upcoming season. With Exum getting better at offense, Gobert should also be able to produce more on offense without having improved at all (but he probably has).
If you get rid of Hood, Davis can pick up the slack. If you also get rid of Gobert, Davis can maybe make up for most of that defense. But if you also get rid of Favors on top of losing those two, we'd effectively be down a complete player.
We are also a small market team, which means we won't be able to attract any big names. Meaning we have to get our players through draft. But if we have Davis we won't be getting high draft picks. So we are left with attracting mediocre names. Hence, our chances of getting a title become slim to none. If we keep all of our core players we have a much higher chance since they are all pretty good already and have been consistently improving every season.
Davis is just a hair below LeBron in the current pecking order. green isn't overestimating anything.

Giving up that much for AD is a tough call, & although there is no point in even debating it as it will never happen, AD is one of the few players I would trade Gobert+ for. Obviously it depends on what the + is, but there isn't a single player in this league that I would rather build a franchise around long-term than AD. Gobert is also near the top of that list due to his GOAT defensive potential, which is why there should be a limit to how much value you trade along with him, but AD has GOAT potential (& not just defensively). I value Gobert as highly as the next guy, but if you have the chance to acquire a potential top 10 player of all-time (which, as much as I love him, Gobert likely isn't), you do (almost) whatever it takes to make that deal happen. Even if it means trading away Gobert/Favors/Hood, & while it would leave the rest of our rotation somewhat thin, AD is one of the few talents who could actually attract high-end FA's to Utah. He's probably the only player that I would make that trade for, but AD is that good.

No, there is still a significant gap. You switch AD for Lebron and no way do the Cavs do that well against GSW. A New Orleans with Lebron, on the other hand, would be much better.
Not to mention that Lebron would be much better at attracting talent since he is the biggest name in the game and already in championship win mode.

Can you imagine how good Hayward would be playing next to Davis? And if Exum became average offensively? With Hayward, Exum and Ingles shooting 40%+ from three, Davis would average either 30 a night or a triple double a night.
Here's the real question to see if I'm trading away too much:
Would NO take Favors, Hood and Gobert for Davis? Nope.
We would need to give NO more. Would NO take Favors, Gobert, Hood, Burke and Burks? Nope. Not enough.
The best player around is Le Bron. #2 is Davis. I'd give the world for Davis.
But then again I want to win a title.
