5 Teams With The Best Young Nucleus In The NBA

Nt sure we are close to contending. That's not a knock on the team, just that they are still so young. They need to cut down on turnovers and mistakes and a large part of our contention rests on how fast Exum can improve. Remember it took Stockton and Malone's team like 10 years to get to that level
Agree. Right now we have a plethora of 3rd-string PG's. And I'm not quite ready to say Lyles will be a solid rotation player. I AM pretty comfortable with the 3 wing rotation; all have produced - they just need to stay healthy. I think it comes down to having a starting PG and a third big. Might already have players who will develop into those roles or maybe not.

As shaky as Exum has looked even the last couple days in this FIBA crap, remember, Mike Conley also took years to become even respectable, let alone perceived as an above average point guard like he is now.

October should help him a ton. Then the season. Then next summer. And so forth. It's a process. I'll be the first to say I can jump the gun on players and I probably will on him a few times this season but I'd love to see how he looks in four years.

I agree with this. However I am afraid our other core players will be "there" before Exum makes the jump and I do not want to see the prime years of Favors, Hayward, Hood, Gobert wasted on waiting for Exum. I hope the front office will know when it is time to cut bait and move on if needs be. I do not want it said of this team that they were a solid PG away from being contenders.
