What's new

Locke Podcast Today

6 Bigs - Gobert, Favors, Booker, Lyles, Withey, Pleiss
5 Wings - Hayward, Hood, Burks, Ingles and one of: Millsap, Johnson or Graham
4 PG's - Burke, Cotton, Neto and Exum

I just don't see the Jazz going with 2 PG's until Exum returns.

I knew it was a typo. Made me laugh when I saw it. Of all the typos one could make, that was truly a doozy!
Did you see the video where Shaq called him Whitey over and over? That wasn't a typo.

Well since they're paying his salary he might not say things that don't agree with what the FO wants to portray.
I haven't listened to the podcast, but apparently he wasn't exactly complimentary of Pleiss. If that's the case, how does the front office benefit from him putting that info out there? In other words, I think Locke probably has a little more latitude than some people around here suggest.

Saw this thread started at 2:36, was 5 pages long, entered anticipating some big news, leave disappointed......

Obviously not being at all critical about the team would be too obvious so he has to throw some of those in, but there are times when it's really obvious like when Exum got injured Locke was doing this 'Emergency' podcast the morning after to allay all our fears and frustrations... he said this is the perfect opportunity for Burke to reinvent himself, etc, etc..

I mean it worked in helping us not feel too disheartened about the injury and more positive about the upcoming season, but to me it was pretty clear he was doing the FO's job in softening the blow of Exum's injury.

You know most of the national media agreed that Exum being injured wasn't a big deal for this season. Amin Elhassan and Zach Lowe said basically the exact same thing that Exum being out didn't really change how they felt about how the Jazz would be competing for a 6th-8th seed in the West.

Really, you can paint whatever Locke says into being "FO forced" if you really want. Just depends on how paranoid and dumb you really want to be.

Not talking about that. Talking about the way he rushed around doing Jazz PR type stuff without appearing on the surface to be doing it. It's a clever ploy this podcast of his. It seems like he's doing it for free out of passion but he is paid to do it and he has been more public about it recently.

I'm not against it I just don't like to be manipulated that's all.

He isn't paid to do the podcast.....

You know why he talks about it when it happens? Because it's a ****ing news story about the Jazz and in the off-season there is nothing else to talk about and this dude likes talking about Jazz basketball.

You are a paranoid idiot.

You really think Dennis Lindsey and the rest of the FO sit around caring about what fans think of their partially guaranteed training camp roster moves?

DL "Make sure Locke hypes up Jeff Withey, I really want Jazz fans to think I'm extra special on this one.... actually get Locke on the phone for this one. Listen Locke, Im really proud of this move so you need to sell it. You know that guy Pleiss? Yeah, just say you like Withey more than Pleiss. I actually just signed Pleiss so you could make the comparison between the 2 and say you like Withey more so I look like I'm really good at signing partially guaranteed contracts. It's really important Jazz fans know how good I am at signing partially guaranteed contracts."

Lol.

You are getting manipulated by someone not trying to manipulate you.

Talk about a week mind. Maybe you are just manipulating yourself???

I think as dumb as Cy is, he got lucky and came to the right conclusion on this One Love.

Locke does suck though. I could maybe appreciate his work if he just wasn't so unbearable to listen too. His speech patterns drive me nuts. He'll be talking about something and then pause, and then go in a completely different direction. Then pause 40 times more. Practically stuttering every word. He never finishes a sentence. He relies way too much on his own weird statistical formulas. He breathes heavy into the phone in interviews. There is no flow or easy listening to him. He just weird.
