Official UofU homer thread

Nearly $400 a ticket for the season opener and the 32nd consecutive sellout. https://www.sltrib.com/blogs/2901210-155/utah-football-michigan-is-priciest-utah?page=1

It's time to complete the south end zone and bring the capacity up to 50k.

A new video board would be sweet too.

Holy ****, UofU's capacity isn't even 50K? That is insanely small for a school that I would assume enrolls around 30K-35K students.

Mississippi State's capacity is like 60K and we are in a town of 20K people with an enrollment of around 20K.

University of Utah football lol.

I think Utes win comfortably

College Football is here!!! Is this the official thread? Will Semaje Perine break his own single game rushing yardage record this season??

Utah-Michigan should be a battle between UM's linebackers and Devontae Booker... The best game of the night by-far.

Kind-of appears like a trap game for Utah though, I think I like UM and 5½ points. I see its supposed to be gusty, any locals wanna predict the game-time weather??

Trap games are when a team is looking ahead to a bigger game against a better opponent the following week. Michigan coming to Utah for the first time is a huge game. Utah has been looking forward to this game since it was put on the schedule. Harbaugh getting named coach makes it an even bigger game. This is the opposite of a trap game.

Temps will start out in the 80s. Winds will die down by game time and won't be an issue.

Hoping for a Covey TD and a Utah loss, but I watched some Youtube "every play" highlights on the Rudock QB transfer for Michigan.....he looks like a pick 6 waiting to happen if he is indeed the starter to me. Kind of freaks out with pressure. Decent accuracy, but the arm strength doesn't look like it's there. Moves okay, but doesn't seem to have the wheels to run away from pressure or anything. Utah gets a little heat on the guy.....could be a long night for him. We'll see if Harbaugh can put him in good spots I guess. Whatever happens, at least Michigan can still claim an awesome fight song:

They haven't expanded because it keeps the prices up and the stadium always full. The Utes have a 98% retention rate of season ticket holders because once they give them up they will be put on the back of the waiting list if they want to reacquire some. Stanford did the same thing when they rebuilt their stadium. They actually reduced their capacity from 85,000 to 50,000. Like I said the Utes have sold out 32 straight home games so demand for tickets is pretty high. One of those games was the last game of 2013 when the Utes had Colorado at home and had only won 4 games up til that point. Their strategy is working.

I still think they will rebuild the south stands soon and even add some seats but 50k will be as high as they will consider. When they rebuild that part of the stadium the Utes athletic department will try to determine how many fans would attend an average game and make sure they keep capacity well below that number.

lol ok

Wow. Not a single BYU fan has challanged my opinion that Utah State might be the 2nd most talented in-state team this year. It's crazy to see how everything's changed in the last decade. One thing that's not so surprising? A Ute thread with with Cy pushing his beloved 50th In Literacy State University.
Utah State might very well be the 2nd most talented team, but at the same time, Utah is very close. Keeton over Wilson gives the Ags a slight edge. But yeah, outside of QB play, it's close.

Outside of QB play it's not close. Utah is better at just about if not every position than Utah State. Keeton if Healthy is probably better than Wilson. That is the only position on the field where the talent at Utah state is even close to Utah. I expect Utah to beat USU easily when they play.

Take it up with jazzman12. He was the one insinuating Utah St is the 2nd most talented team in the state. I was just sticking up for Utah saying at least it's close.

Was talking more about the 5 point spread feeling kind-of trappy, a key numbers type of deal. Might be worth buying a half a point to get off of it..

Line's changed a bit. Everyone's doing Michigan. Take that fwiw.

Rudock not disappointing my pick 6 waiting to happen call yet with his 2 first half INTs. He'll be on fire against BYU in a few weeks though. Those wide open two deep balls that he overthrew will be perfectly thrown touchdowns in that game. Should be interesting to see if Harbaugh sticks with him in the 2nd.

Lol you're probably right, BYU is solid though as much as I don't like them. I could see Michigan looking pretty good by the end of the year
