Playoffs this season?

Does anyone think the Jazz can make it all the way to the playoffs this year even with out Exum? I think the Jazz are going to definitely make it this season if everyone stays healthy because Trey Burke has a lot to prove. He has shown that he can be good but we just need to have faith in him. Even if he is up and down like last year the Jazz still should be a lot better because Alec Burks is back. I also think that Trey Lyles will give the Jazz some great minutes off the bench to help the Jazz have a good record. I think the Jazz make it this year because last year started so bad and the Jazz still almost made the playoffs.

Playoffs! Welcome to the board. Keep posting.

Gobert is awesome. Jazz should make the playoffs this year, but trey lyles prolly won't play much.

If the Jazz are higher than the 6th seed, hayward gobert and favors will get lots of all star consideration.

Hood and burks need to step up for the team as well, and it could be a special year.

If we can stay healthy and see progression from the key guys we will make it. I'm not too worried about the PG position.
Someone will step up, and take control of the team. If Hayward makes another leap we are sitting pretty. I cant wait to see how Hood
can develop over a full season when healthy. How will Burks fit in? Will Gobert deal well with increased attention? Can Favors continue
to improve his jump shot?

I guess the main thing I'm concerned about is who will be our consistent threat from deep? We know we have some shooters on the team, but no one is
a consistent deadly 3 point shooter. Can Hood be that guy? mmm

If the Jazz don't make the playoffs this year I'll be extremely disappointed. To me that means we do not have a real core. If we don't have a real core (Gobert, Hayward, Favors <--- looks like a real core to me) then we are another complete rebuild away. I don't want to be another rebuild away.

So many great follow up posts so far and I love that I'm not the only Jazz fan who thinks we should be in the playoffs. A lot of the stuff I have found online from experts predicts the Jazz as being a year or two away. I tend to agree with @Gameface about being extremely disappointed if the Jazz don't make it where I know some of my friends aren't expecting much to begin with. My faith in Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert is why I'm so excited to see what the Jazz look like this season and I agree @Gameface that if they fall flat without injury then it probably means it will never be.

Cheer up, Nancy. With a healthy roster Jazz will contend for 5-6-7 in the West. Book it.

Jazz will make the playoffs, but despite not because of Trey Burke. TB will have smaller role by end of year than last year. Neto, Cotton, and the other guards will take more of his minutes: too slow, poor shooting, poor defense, no tempo. We will not need to rely on him as much for second team offense, barring injuries.

I think Burke's ability to play at a high level has to do with a lot of things. Our "faith" in him is maybe 2% of that.

Jazz will be better than people think. Not only playoffs but the 7th seed.

I just hope that Vegas odds makers don't think we will make the playoffs.
I also hope that rudy and France doing so well doesn't make their over under wins loss in Vegas go up.

I plan on betting big (for my broke *** anyway) on the jazz next month

I wouldn't go that far. The WC is so tough. This might be a year where it takes 50 wins to make the playoffs. SA, GS, OKC, LA Clippers, Houston, Memphis - those teams are virtual locks. I'd add the Pelicans and Jazz to the top-8. But Dallas is dangerous and another team could surprise.

Barring injuries, Utah will have good rotations at the 4/5 and 2/3. But until proven otherwise, our PG rotation looks like one of the worst in the league. And that might be enough to limit Utah to 44-48 wins and have them just miss the playoffs.

I agree. And we will still be a really young team with room to improve

It seems like the jazz have been getting quite a bit of positive pre season hype. I'm worried Vegas is taking notice

Can't bet on a line that doesn't exist yet

Go get 'em, Champ!

I thought there was a different thread a while ago that had the odds for the number of wins.
No. There are projections (I think it's around 41.5?) But the actual over under on jazz wins and losses went come out until sometime in October I think

I'll be upset if the Jazz aren't in the playoff race until at least the last 5 games or so of the season. If they just miss out it's possible...the West is loaded. Still, I'd like to see them at least a game or so back for most of the year, at worst.

At best I think they can be something like a 6 seed.
