What's new

Playoffs this season?

I wouldn't go that far. The WC is so tough. This might be a year where it takes 50 wins to make the playoffs. SA, GS, OKC, LA Clippers, Houston, Memphis - those teams are virtual locks. I'd add the Pelicans and Jazz to the top-8. But Dallas is dangerous and another team could surprise.

Barring injuries, Utah will have good rotations at the 4/5 and 2/3. But until proven otherwise, our PG rotation looks like one of the worst in the league. And that might be enough to limit Utah to 44-48 wins and have them just miss the playoffs.
I agree. And we will still be a really young team with room to improve

It seems like the jazz have been getting quite a bit of positive pre season hype. I'm worried Vegas is taking notice

Can't bet on a line that doesn't exist yet

Go get 'em, Champ!

I thought there was a different thread a while ago that had the odds for the number of wins.
No. There are projections (I think it's around 41.5?) But the actual over under on jazz wins and losses went come out until sometime in October I think

I'll be upset if the Jazz aren't in the playoff race until at least the last 5 games or so of the season. If they just miss out it's possible...the West is loaded. Still, I'd like to see them at least a game or so back for most of the year, at worst.

At best I think they can be something like a 6 seed.

If we can stay healthy and see progression from the key guys we will make it. I'm not too worried about the PG position.
Someone will step up, and take control of the team. If Hayward makes another leap we are sitting pretty. I cant wait to see how Hood
can develop over a full season when healthy. How will Burks fit in? Will Gobert deal well with increased attention? Can Favors continue
to improve his jump shot?

I guess the main thing I'm concerned about is who will be our consistent threat from deep? We know we have some shooters on the team, but no one is
a consistent deadly 3 point shooter. Can Hood be that guy? mmm

I was at the Charlotte Hornets game when Hood went bat **** crazy on em. Dude has touch, poise, and he gets to his spot on "time". He's gunna be dangerous, I'm sure of it.

Yep.
Hood is a bad ***.

Like Hayward (step back J), hood has a very effective, nearly unstoppable move.
His hard drive towards the hoop, stop on a dime pull-up from 10 feet.
He stops and gets into his shot, after driving full speed toward the hoop, as fast as anyone in the league...... And he usually makes the shoot too

Trying to curb my enthusiasm a little, but I think Rodney is going to be the biggest steal since, well, Rudy Gobert. Still have no idea why he slipped. I guess concerns about his defense. Like most rookies, he struggled early, but then was sensational after the break - kind of like Hayward's rookie year. Not only can he hit 3's; he also has the ability to create his own shots. He just knows how to move to the open spot. I hope we can keep all 3 (Hayward, Hood and Burks). But if we can't, I'm confident Hood will be a great starter.
