What's new

Playoffs this season?

If we can stay healthy and see progression from the key guys we will make it. I'm not too worried about the PG position.
Someone will step up, and take control of the team. If Hayward makes another leap we are sitting pretty. I cant wait to see how Hood
can develop over a full season when healthy. How will Burks fit in? Will Gobert deal well with increased attention? Can Favors continue
to improve his jump shot?

I guess the main thing I'm concerned about is who will be our consistent threat from deep? We know we have some shooters on the team, but no one is
a consistent deadly 3 point shooter. Can Hood be that guy? mmm

I was at the Charlotte Hornets game when Hood went bat **** crazy on em. Dude has touch, poise, and he gets to his spot on "time". He's gunna be dangerous, I'm sure of it.

Yep.
Hood is a bad ***.

Like Hayward (step back J), hood has a very effective, nearly unstoppable move.
His hard drive towards the hoop, stop on a dime pull-up from 10 feet.
He stops and gets into his shot, after driving full speed toward the hoop, as fast as anyone in the league...... And he usually makes the shoot too

Trying to curb my enthusiasm a little, but I think Rodney is going to be the biggest steal since, well, Rudy Gobert. Still have no idea why he slipped. I guess concerns about his defense. Like most rookies, he struggled early, but then was sensational after the break - kind of like Hayward's rookie year. Not only can he hit 3's; he also has the ability to create his own shots. He just knows how to move to the open spot. I hope we can keep all 3 (Hayward, Hood and Burks). But if we can't, I'm confident Hood will be a great starter.

Go get 'em, Champ!

This is almost offensively cheesy...

If the Jazz don't make the playoffs this year I'll be extremely disappointed. To me that means we do not have a real core. If we don't have a real core (Gobert, Hayward, Favors <--- looks like a real core to me) then we are another complete rebuild away. I don't want to be another rebuild away.
I'll be disappointed of course if they miss the playoffs, but it doesn't mean we don't have a real core. Just means we need a true starting pg.
It seems like the jazz have been getting quite a bit of positive pre season hype. I'm worried Vegas is taking notice
Fish losing money by the day. Lol

What kind of real core will it be if one position means we can't even get the 8th seed? So then with a starting calibre PG we get the 8th seed? Is that the kind of core we've all been waiting for?

Not me. I know the West is good. I have high expectations for this team and I am happy that we're in a competitive conference. I expect this team to hold their own, to surprise a few teams and to show that we are part of what makes the West so damn tough.

Less than that... it's all just excuses. Either this team is building towards championship contention or they're not. Elite teams can overcome some adversity, injuries, tough competition.

Pg is the most important position we are already in a tough west. There will be lots of close games. We could lose a lot of close games because Burke will keep the ball out of the hands of Hayward hood and Burks and won't create opportunities for Favors or Gobert. He will end up taking ill advised shots against the shot clock how did that work for Burke last year?

It's not like the jazz are going to be completely without a pg. I don't have time for excuses

I'm with you. If the Jazz aren't good enough to make the playoffs this year, I don't see how internal development is ever going to make them championship contenders. Unless Exum explodes very soon, which is doubtful. You can't keep the core together for more than a few more years if they're nothing more than a fringe playoffs team.

I would be very disappointed if we missed the playoffs. Mostly because our guys are wanting it and they need to make that push. We have the talent to compete and we also have the coaching staff...we just need to stay healthy and catch a few breaks. THe west is very loaded, but we should be the 8th seed at least. I don't see us going to 6th unless one of the top teams has a disastrous season

A healthy Hood and Burks dramatically improves our wing rotation. Don't underestimate that. Burks is an elite slasher and at getting to the line. Hood is going to turn heads with his offensive game.

Of the teams people have ahead of us some are just not going go be as good as we all expect and one out two will have injury issues. It happens every year yet people think they can look at everything on paper and know what's going to happen.

The Jazz are better than a few of the teams above them, we just don't know who the paper tigers are yet.

Well, that could be Utah. Already lost our PG. Now imagine if Hayward or Gobert went down: instant lottery.
