College Football *2015*

Whitt will definitely be getting a raise at the end of the year.

Kyle has been with the Utes forever, turned down Tennessee back when Utah was in the Mtn West, is at a place where he can win a championship, and he wouldn't be the first coach to turn down the pressure of coaching at USC (Chris Petersen just a couple years ago for one).

I'm not an idiot, I know that USC is one of the top 5 jobs in college football, but I do not think that Kyle wants to deal with coaching there. The pressure at any of the Texas, USC, Bama, Notre Dame type jobs is insane. Entirely different level of annoyance from the media and fans at places like that.

If Utah gives him the appropriate raise, I don't think Whitt would want to leave and start somewhere else at this point in his career.

Yeah, if Utah pays I don't think it's that hard of a choice, just from looking at how many years he has put into Utah.

I just don't think Whitt is at the "climb the ladder as high as possible" point of his career. I think he's more in legacy building mode, and unless he feels disrespected by the University whose program he built, I don't see him wanting to leave.

Similarly, I don't think Gary Patterson would leave TCU if offered the Texas job as long as TCU ponied up.

It's also worth noting that I doubt Whittingham is USC's number 1 choice.

I bet they go all in on luring in Chip Kelly. That's the splashy, get back to winning National Titles type of move that boosters will be angling for.

I don't think Whittingham is going anywhere. He has lots of family in Utah, has been a part of building this program from the ground up and is in a better position here than he would be at USC. He's not really a ladder climbing type of coach and is entrenched in the community and athletic program at Utah. I think Utah will be lucky if he stays another 5 years, not because he gets a better job offer but because he has said he doesn't want to coach until he's 60. Maybe that has changed or maybe I got the age wrong, but I don't buy that he's looking to start over somewhere else.

I believe the rumors about him leaving last off season were over exaggerated. He was upset that his assistant coaches were leaving and it caused some problems, but I think that was just a reaction from Whitt that he quickly got over.

I'm with those of you that don't think Whitt is going anywhere. He likes it in Utah the state, and he loves the Utes.
The only way he goes anywhere is if Hill screws this up and tries to show him he's the "man". Whitt is competitive and would leave over something like that imo.
If Hill screws him over by not paying his assistants again, that would tick Whitt off.

So Utah State handled Boise St 52 to 26, good for them. They already beat Colorado State, they are in a good position to win the MWC.
