To those who provide content here, I call a boycott.

For the record, I'm not protesting the thread closing. I don't really care about that. I care about the mods treating the posters like crap and being arrogant smart *** punks about it.

And although it isn't just about that one thread, when we make posts here we put some effort into it and it is part of what brings people here. To have our efforts destroyed and our concern over it insulted it really rubs me the wrong way.

And I'm not under some sort of delusion that my presence makes or brakes jazzfanz.

I'm gonna take a few days away. You all know I love you and I'm passionate about this place for some weird reason.
 
Hello. I'm a long time lurker and I decided to make an account in support of the mods because nobody else has. I want to say two things, first, I appreciate what they've been doing. I browse the forums from home in full view of my family. I don't want to worry about my wife or kids seeing sexually suggestive images (or gross ones) and having to explain myself to them. Second, it is ridiculous that NAOS is one of the complainers about censorship. He calls people judgmental, but he is the most judgmental person on this site, on top of also being a bully. He, and one or two more like him, are the main reason I wouldn't become an active member on these forums. He will for sure pick on me for being a Christian, or having different opinions from him. He does more to silence other people's voices than a 1000 mods ever could.

Edit: Hopefully this doesn't apply to me. I have really tried to be approachable, honest and helpful. If I have been less than that I want you, or anyone, to PM me and let's figure it out.

I wrote a lengthy post and gave up on it but pretty much this. When I first visited I didn't stay around for the content I stayed for the camaraderie I saw between posters. I couldn't care less about talking Jazz with strangers on the bus. Kill the camaraderie and you kill the value that makes this place different from the ****ty "news" style jazz websites.

I apologize for being an arrogant smart *** punk about this whole issue.
I know I feel justified, but that doesn't really matter.
Communication both direction could have been much better between myself and those with complaints.

About the camaraderie, that is a great thing about this place. There does have to be a balance though and the form it takes does get out of hand at times.
No my soul hasn't been sucked out, but I was definitely irritated with what I felt was an irrational and absurd reaction to the close of the thread.
I'm not going to back away when I feel attacked for something that is not justified.

The bottom line though is, I apologize for my part in the drama.

I hazed the hell out of Stoked when he became a mod for completely changing as a poster. In hindsight I went plenty over the line. The guy still gets **** from some posters, maybe for the same reason maybe not I dunno.

Don't give us a reason to haze you too. Stay the you we love (i.e. fight the mods!).

Yeah I didn't clean up a little. But only part of that is from being a mod. But I was fine with the **** you gave me.

I'm much more vanilla in Jazzfanz than I in real life. It is what it is.

Do you view this as a one way street? Do you feel like the mods turned a-hole completely unprovoked?

When the thread was closed, a handful of posters went into meltdown. When this happens, it's open season on the mod staff and the bandwagon gets crowded. All the sudden everyone wants the justice they've apparently been long denied.

I'm biased, of course, but from my perspective the mods here are pretty patient. We take a lot of crap. Eventually it becomes enough that we want to speak our minds just like everyone else gets to.

It's too bad that some were traumatized to the point that they don't want to be here. Hopefully the animosity will pass and we can all get along; even with the filthy mods.
 
This is why I could never be a mod. I'd ban everybody, starting with Jason... and he didn't do anything. (except start the site)
 
For the record, if I could take back some of my snarkiness, I would. Much of it was in jest, but my timing was bad and there weren't many cool heads. When dustups like this occur, I need to just grab some pine.

My wife and I have been laughing about "content creators" all night. "Creating content" is our new euphemism for pooping.

Some advice for you. If a thread says right in the title that there may be inappropriate content in it, then maybe don't open it around your children.
Also, sometimes in gamethreads we post a picture of an attractive female in a bikini (for good luck) so don't open the gamethreads or your kids might see a woman in a bikini. Also don't take your kids to a swimming pool because there are often women in bikinis at pools too
