Official UofU homer thread

Troy Williams probably. he was highly recruited out of high school, Utah will hope he can show why, because the other options aren't great.

Literally, Troy Williams is the only option as of right now IMO. An ESPN top 100 recruit that has a year starting experience at UW. Also, an early entrant from JC who will be here for spring ball. As for the guys already here, Brandon Cox has never been able to even dent the depth chart, Connor Manning is ill suited for our offense and also has never made a push for playing time, and Chase Hansen is a Safety.

Tyler Huntley is a nice recruit who's tearing it up in Florida, but he'll be a true freshman, and that's assuming Utah actually lands him on campus. He's a verbal right now but I think he will attract more schools with the senior season he just had. We'll see if Utah can survive the recruiting push.

However, I will stick up for Whitt when it comes to the MacBride comparisons. When Mac was terminated, he was winning 5 games in a G5 conference. It's hard to bring the hammer down on Whitt after two seasons of 8-4, 9-3 while playing in the PAC 12. As angry as Ute fans are right now, it's surreal to think that all of us are this angry coming on the heels of our 2 most successful PAC 12 seasons.

That being said, I think the offensive instability and woes are epic, and unforgivable. Whitt will be back next year, but I worry it's his last unless he has some sort of revelation and does an offensive 180.

I am just a fairweather Ute fan, don't follow too closely. The one constant with Whitt that strikes me is the poor QBs he goes with. Maybe they are the best he can get, but to me they always look inferior. He kept running Jordan Wynn (?) out there even after his arm was completely shot. Travis Wilson has never been all that great.

No anger here. I'm tickled pink with this season's results. I also am not so sure that next season is going to suck as bad as people think. For whatever reason, I feel good about next year.

As far as Whit - let's see what happens. Having a passing quarterback like Troy Williams on the team could change a lot of things - success with the passing game, the perception of Utah as a non-destination for passing quarterbacks, etc. I'm not pinning all my hopes and dreams on Troy Williams by any means, but I think his arrival and (hopefully) good play could go a long way.

Even then, keep in mind that when getting coaches you are looking for coaches to "take the team to the next level." Whit isn't completely done, I think. He's got a bit more work he can do before he's done everything to the best of his ability to make the program top-notch and solid. If things stagnate, then we can call for his head. But I agree with jazzman12 - two solid seasons in a row with continued improvement, and some hope for solid play in the next few seasons.

I'm feeling good about things.

I think their real failure is in the development of the QB. Wilson was a highly recruited guy out of high school, as was Chase Hansen. They just don't seem to be able to develop the QB under Kyle.

Isn't Brian(sp?) Johnson the QB coach though?

Kaelin Clay ran back a punt on Monday Night Football in just his second career game, way to represent!
