over-under on the number of minutes of Hawks basketball Dal has seen this year is set at 12.2

Even statstically, Burke is only a better 3-point shooter. Schroeder wins the rest of the statistical categories, including 2pt% and ft%, and dishes nearly twice as many assists in the same number of minutes. So Burke being better than Schroeder is a bad argument even if you've never seen them play. If you have, it really becomes laughable.

I'll give Dal this much: If Dennis and Trey were on the same team, then Trey would definitely be the better backup point guard.

I wouldn't say it's "laughable" this year as there is probably an argument to be had for both sides.

I was pretty surprised when looking at the stats that they go to the FT line at basically the same rate.

And what is the argument for Burke? He's a pylon defensively and not much of a PG offensively. He's been a good outside shooter so far this year. That's about it.

Well 3pt shooting is kind of an important thing.

Schroeder only shoots 2% better on 2pt attempts.

Burke actually gets to the FT line more per 36 minutes (half an attempt more).

Schroeder plays on a much better team (in terms of offensive output) that moves the ball better and has more of a team concept than Utah currently does, so assist opportunities are probably more frequent (Atlanta has 2nd most assist per game as a team).

Schroeder actually has a worse defensive plus/minus (not that I put a lot of stock into this, but I havent watched Schroeder closely enough this year to properly comment on his defensive work this year). That could probably be contributed to Burke playing on a better defensive team (much like Schroeder having some slightly better offensive numbers because he plays on a better offensive team).

Not saying I think Burke > Schroeder this year, and I certainly think Schroeder has more potential over the long run, but it's an argument and certainly not "laughable".

Other slight stats Burke has on Schroeder: Steals and Rebounds (on per 36 basis).

I don't know about that. DS sure looks and plays like a PG; Trey plays more like a SG -- he scores most of his point from spot-up jumpers created for him by Burks and others.

If Dennis doesn't have legit NBA 3 point range it puts a big cap on the rest of his game. Defenses can really "load up" in the paint. His +/- speaks volumes to this, and why he has been getting so few minutes lately. The draft comps (so far) are pretty accurate in him being a poor man's Rondo.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and claim that I've seen more Hawks basketball over the past couple of years than anyone on this forum (less this year, because I haven't had the time). There isn't much of an argument here; Schröder is a better player than Burke. 12 good games from Burke this year hardly changes anything, especially since he's averaging only 22 mpg (down from 32, and 30 in years one and two). And, Dennis has had more changes to which he's had to adapt this year.

This is a stupid thread.

If Schröder can't hit 30% from 3 in the Hawks offense, what in the **** would he be averaging in Utah?!
