Any theories for bad Jazz performances with plenty of rest?

Just ignore if it's been discussed before:

Jazz record with 0 or 1 day of rest: 7-4

Jazz record with 2 or more days of rest: 2-5 (including most of the season's "bad" losses: Portland, OKC, (2nd) Orlando, Sacramento)
 
Looks like the lower-rest record will climb to 8-4 tonight. Technically the Detroit loss doesn't count because it was the first game of the year, but if it did, the higher-rest record would be 2-6.
 
Yeah the Jazz usually follow up their bad losses with a win or strong performance.

Bad loss to Blazers, then a solid 4-game run of killing the Nuggets a Grizzlies and strong performances in Cleveland and Miami.
Bad loss in Orlando, then a big win in Atlanta and took down Toronto at home.
Really bad loss to OKC, then handled the Clippers in LA, smashed the Pelicans, and came close to knocking off the Warriors.
Terrible loss to Magic at home, then beat a top-tier Pacer team in OT.
Bad effort in Sacramento and then obviously last nights drubbing of the Knicks.

Really up and down year. I mean it's cliche but it seems like the Jazz are having a hard time keeping their foot on the gas. Getting too comfortable when they're playing well and then find themselves getting punched in the mouth early in a game and unable to make it up.

My theory is that they're just not relaxed as a team, yet. When they have time off, they lose that focus that prevents them from being nervous and tentative and unsure of themselves. That's what we see in those games where they get off to bad starts -- they're not sure what to do, they think too much and make bad decisions. And I think that has to do with inexperience that as they mature will work itself out.

This.
Ups and downs are normal for a middle of the pack team.

Teams at the bottom of the standings are more consistently bad.

Teams at the top are more consistently good.

Teams in the middle (like the jazz) have more ups and downs.

Agree, when we play bad it seems to stem from defense.

Complex schemes are probably effective in the long run if the core sticks together. Might not work for large markets that build through FA and expect immediate results, but it might be a suitable strategy for a team with medial talent to gain an edge over time.

The only consistent player on the team is Hayward. Favors is approaching that level, but he gets derailed by foul trouble in games still.
