What's new

GT: Jazz v 76ers | 12/28/15 | 7pm MST

yeah, I saw that. Sometimes it's difficult to remember that these are very young men we're talking about. As an athlete and a scholar, I got in my own way all the ****ing time when I was his age. Still do, in fact, to alarming degrees. Hopefully millions of dollars and good coaching/mentoring help Rodney (and others) develop a different state of mind. If you're Rodney, you want the magic that Reggie Miller and Ray Allen found.

A reliable deep threat (in volume and %) would work wonders for this team.

Does Ingles qualify? Every time he shoots a 3 I think it's going in. I just wish he'd get more consistent mins. He's one of my favorite players. Wish we could've gotten him in his early 20's.

He certainly has the % (41.7%) but has only attempted 2.1 per game this season, so no. I am talking the above 40% shooter that takes 5 or so 3s a game. (Which Ingles has done the last 2 game FWIW)

I know Hayward had a bad shooting night but he got to the line a ton and was quite a bit more aggressive then usual. Also there were a ton of times he drove the lane and took an awkward shot that missed because he was fouled but no call. Sometimes I wonder if he is public enemy #1 with refs. Never seen someone get soooooo obviously fouled only to have the refs pocket their whistle.

That three was clutch though. At that point Utah was down two, and I was pissed and didn't want to see overtime. All I wanted was for someone to take and hit a three. So to see Hayward take and make that three was sweet music to my ears.

2.1 attempts per is good for the mins he's getting though, which is why he needs more. He should get all of Sap's mins. I cringe every time he comes into the game. His good defense is Nullified by all the dumb mistakes and really bad fouls at really bad times he commits. Sometimes I think he's got to be the dumbest player in the league, sometimes.

Ingles seemed craftier on defense last year. To me, at least. Kind of like Paul Pierce in the sense that he found ways of staying in front, when athleticism seemed to dictate otherwise. This year he hasn't seemed the same.

If Hay got foul calls like say Lebron, he would get 20 ft per game. He has more no-calls than anyone I have ever noticed.

This is 1 area I feel Hayward is making big strides, Previous years if he was bullied up he would go into a shell

He would have never taken that 3 pt last years.

Baby steps...

Actually, that isn't updated for tonight's games (in which the Jazz had an absolutely horrible ORtg), so it might drop down as far as to 13th-14th after the update. But, given that tonight's game was played without 3 starters and our 6th man, such an outlier is expected.

Adding to that. Not only are we down 3 starters but we had 2 starters who are rookies and one second year player who missed a bunch of games last year so he's actually seeing most of these opponents for the first or second time. That goes the same for our bench also.

You start by saying Hayward is making big strides, but then by saying baby steps...lol

Withey, Lyles, Hayward, Hood, and Neto/Burke. Not a strong lineup, but capable of playing well enough to win. Have to stop playing Booker so much. He's been bad this season. The hustle off the bench role is all he should ever be. Withey has earned a shot to get more minutes with the starters while Gobert is out.
