I'm all about Kent Blazemore420 tho.
I'm obvi super madd guis.
Never fails.
No top level free agents will be changing teams and heading to Utah this offseason. DL says that he's hoping for a "Reggie White" type of acquisition in free agency. Won't happen. The only way to acquire that guy is to trade for a player to get his Bird Rights and then offer him significantly more than anyone else can.
Ya never know.. Gotta leave it open.. Brad "bubble-wrap" Beal's injury history might make him more gettable than some are presuming.. There's talk he might need to be on a minutes restriction for the rest of his career, and with Hayward, Burks and Hood here, plus a big PG in Exum, he could play a big role on reduced minutes, it could actually be an ideal situation for him basketball-wise.. Plus he's just 22, If he can stay healthy there's plenty of upside for the Jazz, even at max dollars.
Exum - Burke - Neto
Beal - Burks - (1st rd pick?)
Hayward - Hood - Ingles
Favors - Lyles
Gobert - Withey - (1st rd pick?)
If Exum's shooting improves, which it will, and Burks stays inthe high 30's and Burke shoots as he has been this season.. The Jazz would all of a sudden have plenty of firepower on the perimeter.. I like it!!
Not a bad post but while I'd say there'd be plenty of firepower, there wouldn't be plenty of minutes for all involved.
Do you really think he can guard the likes of Durant and Leonard?
Either way-- I'm happy with a Bazemore contract only to a certain extent. ATL will overpay for him, and I dont think we personally should.
what track record does the current leadership of ATL have for overpaying players?
I've NEVER said that we're looking for a guy to LOCK DOWN the wing FULL-TIME. I'm talking about getting a guy who CAN GUARD THE WING DOWN THE STRETCH OF CLOSE GAMES SO HAYWARD CAN FOCUS ON BUCKETS. Why has the latter been consistently misrecognized as meaning something like the former? I'm not hyping Bazemore as a first-option offensive or defensive player. He's probably better than Burks, though, fit-wise, in both aspects of the game. And, it's realistic to think about acquiring him.
Bazemore is about equal to Hayward when it comes to defending the wing. Some may say he is (or could) surpassing Hayward as a defender. Wouldn't you like to add a wing defender of that caliber to this roster? Don't you also appreciate that he can switch onto guards without a problem?
There are dreamier options than Bazemore, but Kent is realistic and fits really well, IMO. Has become pretty clutch, and can defend wings and guards. Coming from ATL, he'd have a seamless transition. The jazz FO had interest in him before he signed with the Hawks, so that's encouraging history, too.
I really like how he can help take the defensive burden off of Hayward -- who, I think, should be given the luxury of drawing an easier defensive assignment down the stretch of close games than he is right now.
