Favs is the best backup 5 in the league. And a pretty good PF, too.
Would not trade him for Love. Better move is to just let Favs/Gobzilla dominate defensively and bring in a 3PT shooting PG. Then Utah has a PG and Hood to space the floor, with Gordon hitting his step-backs, Favs working the P&R's and Gobert cleaning up the misses and getting lobs.

Lol at Jazz fans. A week ago, half of yous guys were thinking Lyles was making Favors expendable, and considering trading him away. Nice to see you've all come to your senses. The defensive identity of this team is being vastly underated by fans this year due to multiple injuries, IMO. A healthy Rudy\Faves underneath is as good as it gets, but if you add Exum's length and quickness on the perimeter, you wouldn't have these games where we're getting lit up by the Damien's and Kemba's of the league.
It seems to me a lot of fans have all but written off our play in the second half last season as a fluke, and I think that's a mistake. If everyone was healthy, I still believe we'd be the 4th best team in the west this year, and playing for HC advantage in the playoffs. I admit that I am concerned about how well Dante will recover from his injury, since defense is more likely to diminish after such, but no way in hell would I consider trading away the key pieces to what will likely be the league best defense if we can get past these injuries.
The potential of this team is special, and right now as frustrating as it has been with the injuries, I think it's important not to lose focus on where this team is headed.

On bad teams. With decent rosters and coaching. Boozer at least was a cornerstone of a very, very good team year in and year out. Also, keep in mind what happened when he was replaced by Al Jefferson.

Boozer was replaced by Millsap. Jefferson replaced Memo. And there were other dynamics in play, including the boiling situation between Sloan and Deron, the continued decline and discontent of AK, etc. - and then the coaching change.
Of course there were other ****ing issues. But AK didn't decline (until the last couple of years) and Fat Al grinding the gears of the offense into dust (vs a guy that flourished in it) was the base of every other problem. Boozer was a one way player, but a damn good one that made the team better. No player in Jazz history has been more underappreciated than Carlos Boozer.
I had no intention of that point turning into me praising a player that I had originally used to malign. Because I'm not saying Love is garbage, just overrated, and a one-way player.

Then we probably agree that for what he'd bring vs. what he'd cost, both in terms of assets given up and salary against the cap, a player like Love isn't a good fit. It's awfully hard to compete with one-way players. Cleveland is finding that out as has Houston.
