What's new

Sorting out our draft picks.

With all the deals we've made in the last year or two, a lot of draft picks have changed hands and I'm having trouble sorting through it all.

Okay, this I know. We have the Nets 1st rounder this year, 2011, no matter what.
The conditional Memphis 1st rounder from the Brewer deal went to Minnesota when we acquired Al. But what about the other 1st rounder, our own, that we sent to Minny in that same deal? It's conditional, right? What are those conditions exactly? I can't find it anywhere.

Also, do we know the exact conditions on this Golden State 1st rounder yet?

Anything else I'm forgetting as far as picks go?

We have all our 2nd rounders moving forward, right?

Thanks for any help. Just very curious.

Our first rounder this year goes to Minny unless we are in the lottery. So it is 1-16 protected. The GS pick next year is 1-7 protected. As for the second rounders I think we have them all.

I don't have the answers to these specific questions, but I think everybody should calm down a bit over the GS pick. That team has some nice pieces and could very easily squeak into the playoffs (the bottom of the west is kind of falling out). Don't expect too much from this pick.

So what happens if we don't make the playoffs this year...does that mean that the traded pick rolls over to next year?

The lottery is 14 picks so even if we make the playoffs as one of the worst two teams in the NBA, we still get it?

GS is 1-7 protected in 2012, 1-6 in 2013, then converts to a 2014 and a 2016 2nd rounder pick. I posted a link about it in the Williams traded thread, page 25 or something.

Jazz 2011 pick is top 16, then top 14, then top 12, in 2011, 2012, 2013, respectively.

2nd rounder this year went to Chicago, and then to GS I believe.

Who said I'm excited and if I am, why not be? Other than their one playoff year, the Warriors are perennial suck for the most part. They're approaching .500, sure, but they're still the 4th worst team in the Western conference, with a very talented Clips team behind them. There's no reason to think that that pick can't be top 10. Perhaps even better.

Very helpful. Thanks.

calm yourself. I was speaking to the royal "WE".
Get revved up for it if you want. I'm thinking it will be 14-17.

I'm leaning towards hoping the Jazz make the playoffs this year - even if that means first round exit via San Antonio. Picks-wise that would mean Jazz give their pick away this year and keep their pick the next year. This year is underwhelming. 2012 there's a SG named Austin Rivers who sounds pretty good.

Thanks. Even the media can't get these things straight. Been a few conflicting reports out there.
