It's pretty obvious.
Thompson would struggle mightily in Hayward's role. Hayward could fill Thompson's role, maybe not as good as Thompson, but would be close.

GSW wouldn't trade Klay for Hayward in a million years.
I'd settle for a tie. But go outside Utah and see what people would say about those two. Klay has one elite skill Gordon has none.
The funny thing is that the raw stats say Hayward is better, so it's nt even like we have to connect the dots. But if you do connect the dots, it's even more clear Hayward > Thompson.
Bawsdog is developing this niche of the negative nancy.

Dalabro while you're at it you still have to explain how Bogut is better than Gobert and how he dishes out 5-7 assists per night while averaging 2.
Of course they wouldn't. Why would they trade a guaranteed fit for Hayward (who has less years on his deal)? It'd be an unneccesary risk. That doesn't mean Thompson > Hayward.

because of team fit and chemistry, doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that. They prolly wouldn't even trade Barnes for Melo.
What you should ask yourself is: ask every GM, if building a team, whether they want Hayward or Klay.
Ah yes so Tony Allen is also better because of that one elite skill of his!
