What's new

I Was At Last Night's Knicks/Jazz Game

Only 8 teams this year have made it to 7 straight wins

Hmmm, maybe you should read a newspaper and you would learn that one of those 8 teams this season actually pulled off a 24 game winning streak! But you Jazz fans are happy with seven. Lol.

I want to help you out a bit, Jazz fans. There are teams that pull off 33 game winning streaks (Lakers), there are teams that have won an astonishing 27 championships (Yankees), there are teams that have All Stars on their squad (Knicks)...but you Jazz fans are happy with a seven game winning streak. Good God, talk about setting the bar low.

1. Porzingis made a steal at the most crucial point in the game and refs called a non-existent foul. It is already being called the worst call in NBA history. We wuz robbed. No blame, just speaking facts here.

2. If we had Hayward and Hood instead of Melo???? Uhh, news alert, Melo is an NBA All Star, going to Toronto this weekened; Heyward and Hood will be dining at Red Lobster Sunday and then watching the All Star game on their 17 inch black and white TVs. I'll take an All Star on my team over two nobodies who eat at Red Lobster and watch the All Star game on 17 inch black and white TVs.

1. Yawn, just excuses. Dont play ****ty and you will win.

2. Hayward and Hood will be resting during the all star break so they can get ready for a playoff run while Melo is getting fatter and lazier and wondering what team is going to trade what bag of chips for him.

Our bar is low. Nothing wrong with that, we are happy to see our team improve every year and we mostly have realistic bars we want to see our team achieve over the next 5 years, one of which is being competitive enough to win it all with some luck. I guess your bar is all-star appearances. Seems like a real ****ty goal and low bar but if that makes you happy and you dont care about winning Melo is your man!

So while us Knick fans will be watching the NBA All Star Game this Sunday night, you will be watching "Dancing With The Stars." Have fun.

While Jazz fans watch their team in the playoffs, you'll be... god only know what the hell you do in your spare time.... Torturing cats? Oh wait, no... i know i know.. you'll be on JazzFanz bragging about how many championships the people representing your lottery team have won for other cities.

We will also watch our 3 players participate in rising stars game. But I hope Melo gets a win in the meaningless All star game for your sake you need a win somewhere.

No, Hayward and Hood will be sitting in front of their 17 inch black and white TVs wishing they could one day be as good as the stars they are watching.

Going to be a rough night for Hayward in particular:
"Oh, why can't I be as good as Melo? Why can't I make as much money as Melo? Why can't I win a championship like Melo? Why did I go to Butler instead of Syracuse? Why can't I be friends with LeBron and Wade instead of Neto?"

Haha, good one, you got me. Melo will always have his college days to remember. If only he could go back to HS and relive his glory days, he would be so popular again. Anywho, its been fun im out of here for the day.

So you're a GS Warriors fan now? Them legs must be tired keeping up with the bandwagons. 7 is still more than 4. If our bar is low, yours is touching dirt.

Let's be honest, the last time NYK sniffed a chip was 1973. 43 years ago. That's a grip of champion-free decades for the LARGEST market in the country. How the hell does that happen? Money? yep. Awesome Market? Check. Brains?.... Business Savvy? Instead they put all their chips on guys like carmelo, and watch him play in the all-star game, but not the playoffs. The fact the Jazz have had a more successful franchise history (win%) than the knicks, with 1/10th of the market share and appeal, speaks highly either of the Jazz's brilliance or the Knicks' ineptitude.

i'd take playoffs over the joke of an all-star game, any time.

Hey, I'm a New York sports fan. We expect championships EVERY season. Ever hear of the Yankees? They have 27 of those things called championships. As New Yorkers we feel it is our birthright to win every year. We went in to a Super Bowl against an 18-0 undefeated New England Patriots team expecting to beat them. And we did! We started this 2015 NBA season expecting to compete for that gold trophy and it is now February we are nine games under .500 but we still expect our men to go out there and win!

I have nothing against the Utah Jazz. I actually root for them out west. I saw Charles Barkly last night praise the hell out of them. Young team on the way up. He's right. All I am saying is you should not crow over a seven game winning streak when other teams have pulled off 24 games this season. You set the bar low. No sports fan should ever do that. We want to make the playoffs and win it all. We believe we should do that and that is why we fired our coach Monday.

Its been a long 43 years then hasn't it?

All-Time, the Knicks dont even have a winning record. They are 2,669 W and 2,724 L (.495)

That's sort of embarrassing for a team, in by far the largest market in the country, with aspirations of "championships EVERY season" isnt it?

We arent a big market, we cant buy chips like NY. We have to be realistic, although it sounds like you guys might need to be realistic as well about your Knicks going forward. Its time to Rebuild around Porz, trade Melo for picks and young players and hope for a couple good draft picks the next few years. Or go the NY way and trade Porz for an aging star and spend all the money in FA and pray Melo actually plays to win and works hard in the offseason.

First of all I guess you didn't own a TV in 1995 or in 2000. We were in the Finals those years. Maybe buy an NBA Almanac and look it up.

Secondly, how could our recent bad run happen? Simple. Our owner named James Dolan is ranked as thee worst owner in sports. You are right, unlimited money and resources here in NY. But we have James Dolan...he's idiotic and has probably one of the lowest IQs in America. He's not a very good person, either. He actually fired a security guard at the Garden because she asked him for his ID while he was entering a restricted area. True story.

1994 & 1999, not 95 & 2000, but yes i know this. Here's the thing.. if we counted simply making it to the Finals as championships, the Jazz would have two of their own from the 90s. But as it stands, neither team has won a chip in the last 40 years. The jazz have managed to have a much better record over that time with a fraction of the commodities that the Knicks enjoy.

The very reason you rag on Dolan, for making stupid decisions, is the same thing you embrace about your team. You are 100% all in on Carmello, who quite clearly at this point is not nearly enough to get you guys even into the playoffs, let alone win it all. Believe us Jazz fans, we played him while at Denver 4 times every year (and often in the playoffs). Ill-earned all-star appearances, coaching changes, or wasted free agents (Amare? God that ended badly) will not change this. It's time to rebuild around the Stud Rookie and cut your losses with Melo.

Here's the good news for you, if smart decisions are made (you know, instead of trading away all your picks like your franchise seems to like to do nearly every year), being in that gigantic market can make rebuilding MUCH faster for you than for a small/mid-sized city like Salt Lake City.

I don't buy that "we aren't a big market" stuff. Is Cleveland a big market? How about Toronto? They built a top team. Jazz have put together a decent team. Can you nail down a Durant? No and that's only because a guy on that level is only going to a team that is thiiiiis close to a championship. Nothing to do with small market.

Only advantage the Knicks have over other teams is we fill our arena every night. (And they charge a fortune for a ticket in that place.) Last year when we were 5-36...every seat was filled. I went to the Knick/Denver game, a game between two teams ten games under .500 held on Super Bowl Sunday...arena was sold out. It is undoubtedly a fun place to play if you are a b-ball player and no doubt that does attract the more adventurous players.

It's not only about being a small market, but rather a small market, that is also generally perceived as "undesirable". Cold winters full of snow for many who've never seen snow seems crappy, then the stigma with the Mormons, and the lack of beaches, entertainment, etc etc. Yes it all adds up.

Cleveland has sucked ***, and would continue to suck ***, if they weren't so lucky as to have Lebron be born in the area (example: all the years without lebron). Toronto has a metro population of nearly 6 million people. Not a small city, in the slightest.

Also, side note... Sad that in today's NBA, filling a 20,000 seat arena, even in a metro with 20 MILLION people, is an accomplishment now apparently.
