Alright everyone.

End all debates. We have an important thing to talk about.


Jason Almighty has given us our chatbox back.

But he also says that this is a test for us humble sheep.

So we need to keep the chatbox active so that it can stay on forever as our sanctuary and house of love and happiness.

So I need all of you sweet souled nice people of Jazzfanz to pay more attention to Jazzfanz Chatbox and use it a lot more.


I am thanking each and every one of you in advance because I know how awesome of a human being each and every one of you are.

Awesome! I miss the old chatbox days. Was actually wondering where it went and why it was no longer being used. Was some fun nights chatting with everyone on game day in there.

I have realized this. We have a serious activity problem in here. Most of the time, even a poll is viewed by many users but does not even get voted let alone get commented on. A lot of lurkers exist probably in ghost mode and we don't meet the potential activity ever.

The app needs to allow poll voting, chatbox, and repping. That would liven things up I think

Definitely. It's really stupid that being an app for forums like this as the reason of their foundation, TapaTalk has still yet to cover this side of forum interactions. Polls and REP!!!!!

There have been concerns about chat function slowing down the app so they did not jump into it.

This thread is from 2010: https://support.tapatalk.com/threads/real-time-chat.2440/ The tapatalk guys were obviously into it but wanted to make sure there was enough demand.

Thanks for the discussion guys.. keep it coming.. always love to hear your feedback and discussion of where this app should head to. Like iFonz said I also thrilled to see it grows in terms of features and user-base.

I'm sure anything that would got a chat plug-in into the Jazzfanz app would be a concern for Jason as this would be the first thing he would look into when deciding to add a feature to the site or the app., or more importantly, what is the ratio of "demand for the feature" / "how much the feature would slow down the site/app" .

Actually, this is the same reason I think Jason called this a "test" and he will close down the chatbox again since there will not be enough activity worth to let him keep it alive.



Aside from this, TapaTalk has loaded a new chat future called "TapaTalk Chat" (how creative eh?) to their app. Let's see if you can use it withing Jazzfanz app solely. But I don't think it would do any good like the chatbox we use on the site because it is simply a TapaTalk based version of private messaging on forums. Only a more practical one.

There is however this new thing called Chat Room they speak of and in some of the forums I have seen, they were just like what we use in here and got opened from time to time with announcements but I have yet to access anything similar to this in the tapatalk app.

This on the other hand is another reason why forum owners want to avoid chat room and chatbox:

They demand more control and observation over their site so chat rooms make it less possible for them. I doubt Jason would care much about this since there is a limit to the unpleasant occurrences in Jazzfanz, so I think our admin's sole concern would be the demand / system slow down ratio.
