What's new

The Jazz target in the offseason.

I'd take a look at Eric Gordon to bolster our bench. He isn't the explosive driver he used to be but has been a knockdown three point shooter his last 3 years:

13/14: .391
14/15: .448
15/16: .384

I'm sure he's ready to move on from the lowly Pels.
I like em but dude has missed 40 games this season and 15 the previous 2 years

And thee, I guess we have a different definition of significant free agent. Jazz aren't going to get Durant. I'm talking about guys in the $8-$15M/per range. With next years cap, these are the solid vets - players who could be starters if needed, but would generally come off the bench. DL needs to sign contributors, not guys like Johnson, Whithey, etc who hardly play. There are minutes available for both a fourth wing and a fourth PF/C.

Also realized when I was thinking about how many available roster spots we will have to sign FA with, I completely forgot Tibor Pleiss existed.

1. Exum
2. Mack
3. Neto
4. Burke
5. Burks
6. Hood
7. Hayward
8. Ingles
9. Chris Johnson
10. Derrick Favors
11. Trey Lyles
12. Rudy Gobert
13. Jeff Withey
14. Tibor Pleiss
15. 1st Round Draft Pick

So yeah, unless we cut CJ and/or Withey, we won't even have room to sign a FA.

I wouldn't mind Barnes; however, I'm guessing Barnes will be looking for a) big time money and b) a more prominent role in the offense. If the Jazz were to sign him, it would have to be at about $15M or so per year, I would guess, can the Jazz afford it given the need to resign other players coming down the road? Also, I doubt Barnes would come with the understanding that he'd come off the bench. So, that means that, in all practically, we move Hood to the bench. Are you Ok with that? Is Barnes better than Hood? I'm not sure he is. I wouldn't mind Hood coming off the bench, I suppose, but I'm not sure how that would work out, unless the Jazz are contemplating playing a lot of small ball moving forward.

Barnes rejected 4 year 64 mill deal. He wants the max and won't leave without it.

Jazz can only afford to pay someone big for next season only. Seasons after that we r somewhat restricted arent we?

I think Marvin Williams or Jared Dudley fill both of these roles. Both have been playing PF this year. Knock down 3P threat, and veteran presence. That depth though.

A good replacement for Booker would be Kyle O'Quinn. Good size, great contract and a mean streak - he's not afraid of putting opposing players on their back.

Knicks need a PG in the worst way. Offer up Burke, Pleiss and a second rounder, if they don't go for it offer Mack and Pleiss.

Part of the Jazz problem is you have Pleiss, Withey, Ingles and CJ as top reserves. I'm not sure those guys as the corps could make the DLeague playoffs. Nice guys but limited talent wise.

We are getting Durant. Stop this babiness. There is no better NBA destination than Utah.

That is pretty funny... I'm sure Burke will be gone. I don't think they'd ax Tibor just yet, but he may be trade fodder at some point. CJ is a good dude but 100% replaceable... and we likely should seek an upgrade there. Withey could also be moved...

Point is that we can easily find a roster spot for Durant when he's ready to sign.
