Burks likely done for season?

Mike Sorensen from Deseret News posted this in his article about Spurs coming to town:
Guard Alec Burks, who has been out with a fractured left fibula since Dec. 26, is still out and not expected to play the rest of the season.
ESPN cited him as the source for saying Burks is most likely done for the year.

Aaron Falk @tribjazz
I think that rumor was based on an inaccurate report. I'm still expecting him back.

Jody Genessy ‏@DJJazzyJody
I concur w/ @tribjazz. Sure, it's possible Burks won't play, but I haven't heard anyone from the Jazz say he won't.

Tony Jones has said he expects him back this week and as early as tonight and Jody Genessy followed up the previous post by saying he's heard he is close.

This.

It took me all of 3 minutes to investigate and debunk the report that he won't be coming back. Funny how everyone else went off on an emotional roller coaster.

Who is this Mike Sorensen guy? Do you really think he knows the team better than Tony Jones, Jody Genessy, and David Locke? Mike Sorensen's twitter account makes him look like an old semi-retired guy that is more interested in golfing than following the Jazz. He should really just retire and make room for someone who has some passion about the team.

I wanted him back and playing though so that he is a trade asset going into the offseason. I'm not sure he's a long term fit here. If something good were to come up on the market he might be part of the package to go get it... his salary helps. I don't know what it does to his trade value if other teams don't see him out on the court playing.

I also don't see how subbing him in for CJ's 10-15 minutes would hurt us... for every good play CJ makes he bricks four open jumpers.
I agree about wanting him back and playing. But I can see how management might worry that bringing him back would make us worse in the short term (due to messing with chemistry)

There in lies the problem. You shouldn't have to investigate. Mis-information everywhere. No one has a clue about anything.
This thread exists for a reason.
The jazz are doing a horrible job of providing any sort of clear info on Burks injury or date to return to action. And they have done a horrible job from the beginning.

Tony Jones, Jody Genessy, and David Locke?

These guys have also talked about the possibility that Burks would be out for the rest of the year btw.

Quin snyder also said he could miss the whole year. (He said it a couple weeks ago)

all this contradicting information makes me uneasy about Burks. Hopefully they are just being cautious with him. He could have helped against the Spurs, though his minutes would have been very limited.

Fair point.

I just don't think we should think Mike Sorenson has a better source than Tony Jones or Jody G.

Personally, I'm curious how the medical people set their benchmarks. It seems like it's a new science and they are probably way too conservative. I bet Favors was the same way, he probably could have been back weeks earlier, but the Jazz are more concerned for their future than they are for the playoffs this year.

Good post. I would love to know what benchmark it is that Burks is struggling with.
Seriously, that's all the info I want from the jazz and I think it would stop threads like this and the other ones discussing Burks injury/return.

I assume there is some reason that Burks is not playing. I would like to know the reason if it involves his health/injury.

If it was health related then I think the jazz would have told us by now. That's what makes me think it isn't really health related.

I think they have a trade worked out (or hopes for a trade), but can't get it done if he is hurt.

If he really doesn't come back, this seems like the only possible explanation to me. Guess we'll see.
