I think what he said leaves room for this possibility. Again, I'd have to look at the details of the case. Kobe was presumably making his comments within that context -- and didn't think he needed to clarify to people who might be reading his comments in ignorance of the details of the encounter a decade later.

Anyway, not sure this detail is terribly important. I don't think Kobe's guilt or admission of guilt has any affect on the culture or incidence of rape (I could be wrong). I think celebrity worship is pretty ****ing stupid, regardless. Kobe's status as a rapist doesn't diminish his accomplishments on a basketball court.

Sure, and I'll just say, I'm assuming he raped her. I'm biased. But assuming that a person who says they were raped was actually raped is a pretty solid bet.

Let's not forget that the exual encounter was, according to both of their versions, pretty violent. Maybe after knowing her for a few minutes he knew she was really into violent sex that resulted in bleeding and her running out of the room distraught.

As much as I wish this could be true, it just isn't. I know of at least 3 women who have accused somebody of rape, but made it up.

First case was a friends ex. This one actually made national news (guy was a QB at Montana.) He seemed like a real prick, but he didn't rape her.

Second case was a childhood friend. Girl lied so that her boyfriend wouldn't get mad at her. I'm not joking either.

Third case was two individuals I don't know personally, but it's a small town. He was a teacher, she was a student, she accused him of some things, he had to resign. Month or two later, she admits she made the whole thing up. So this guy gets his name tarnished for nothing. Pretty awesome.

Now I'm not saying women don't get raped, they obviously do. I just wish some of these women realized their false accusations hurt the women who actually do get raped.
