2016 Free Agent Targets: Allen Crabbe

Bobo will be a RFA this offseason. Believe we still have one guaranteed year on Pleiss's contract (at least) so not likely to dump him.

Both Bobo and Crabbe are RFAs and that means their teams will probably match any offer the Jazz put out there.

Moore would be good. I think we need to find a guy to cover multiple positions.

Two guys I like from Miami ... Deng would be good but I think he is better at the four and I'm not sure there are a ton of minutes. He would fit the bill as far as acquiring a vet. I also like Tyler Johnson. He's a combo guard so he could help at either guard position. Miami will be in a salary pickle to start free agency with whiteside getting a raise and wades cap hold. A strong offer for either guy could get the win.

I think we should poke around some of the bigger names first. I don't think Conley, Batum, or Beal would sign with us but we should see if there is any interest before sliding down the FA rung. I think the injury issues with Beal may scare some teams and he could be had if a max deal was thrown out there... Although the wiz have the most information and if they didn't match that'd be a bad sign.

All for going after Tyler Johnson.. 38% from 3, he can get to the rack and he;s undersized but has some real hop to his step. plays tough too..

With all the extra cash this offseason because of the salary cap massive increase you will really have to overpay to get a RFA if he is remotely good. With most of the Spurs frontcourt getting way up there in age figure they will want to hang on to him.

No way I would throw a max contract at Beal with all his injury issues. Lucky if he plays half the games.

I have brought him up before but Nando De Colo is tearing up Europe now. Probably best vet player in Europe. Much improved since days at Spurs. He can play both PG and SG. Great passer and great shooter, yes a little slow on defensive size but we do have Favors and Gobert to cover that up. Thomas Huertel is another guy who if a couple of inches taller I would give him a real shot, but he always impresses me when I see him play.

There was a small guard with glass ankles that got a discounted extension years ago... Turned out pretty well. When young guys have injuries like this it can go one way or the other... Risk reward and all that stuff ya know.

I think the wizards match anyway. Beal is too good not too. I'm thinking most teams will match their restricted free agents this go around.

The wizards definitely match, they'd have extended him already but they need to stay flexible for Durant..

You guys are right... It is a bad hypothetical.

I've suggested similar moves in the past, like Tobias Harris last summer, and they make sense if you offer them at 12:01AM the first day of Free Agency, and plan to quickly admit defeat and move to plan b..

Just to see if you can possibly reel in a big name early.. The Jazz don't seem to operate like that though, at least not publicly..

Ok he is the next Steph Curry I guess. :D

He could be Jrue Holiday too... Injuries would be the only reason we were able to get him.

The Wiz are in full win now mode... they won't let talent walk. I like Harris last year too... the trick is finding the RFA on the team that has salary issues. Really Miami and GSW (if they are in on Durant) are the only teams that need time to figure things out. Durant should lead them along while Ezeli and Barnes sign elsewhere... then he goes back to OKC.

Also listening to Caron butler... Can we give CJs spot to a guy like this... Leadership toughness and can play a little if needed.

Report: Mike Conley expected to leave Grizzlies in free agency https://dlvr.it/L5C31J

Sign Conley. Trade Burks for Tyson Chandler who has just two years left but has deep playoff experience/leadership/toughness we sorely lack. Conley adds that as well.

Conley(31), Exum(17), Mack/Neto
Hood(31), Exum(10), Hayward (7), 2nd round sharpshooter
Hayward(25), Lyles(6), Luwawu (17), Ingles
Favors(30), Lyles (18)
Gobert(30), Chandler(18), Robert Carter (2nd rounder)

IMO, that team could win 52-56 games NEXT year and make a legit Finals run the following year if the young ones develop enough.

Something like this...

So we trade Burks to get Tyson Chandler so we can play Trey Lyles out of position for 6 minutes a night?

Genius.

Something like this...

Conley wants to leave Memphis to come to Utah? Luwawu will be ready to play 17 minutes a night in his first season? Think I would rather have Withey than Chandler at this point in his career. Chandler also has another 3 years to go on his contract.

I'm implying that the lack of players under contract, such as Burks and Burke, means at least one trade. That explains Chandler.

This team needs a vet presence to help push them over the hump. Sacrificing Withey is a reasonable price to pay for that experience.

Plenty of players come in and play 17 + mpg their rookie seasons. Is there some specific indication Luwawu cannot?

Also Memphis is in full rebuild and clearly on the decline. Utah is young and on the rise. I think Utah would be an attractive destination for him.
