2016 Free Agent Targets: Allen Crabbe

I've suggested similar moves in the past, like Tobias Harris last summer, and they make sense if you offer them at 12:01AM the first day of Free Agency, and plan to quickly admit defeat and move to plan b..

Just to see if you can possibly reel in a big name early.. The Jazz don't seem to operate like that though, at least not publicly..

The Wiz are in full win now mode... they won't let talent walk. I like Harris last year too... the trick is finding the RFA on the team that has salary issues. Really Miami and GSW (if they are in on Durant) are the only teams that need time to figure things out. Durant should lead them along while Ezeli and Barnes sign elsewhere... then he goes back to OKC.

Also listening to Caron butler... Can we give CJs spot to a guy like this... Leadership toughness and can play a little if needed.

Report: Mike Conley expected to leave Grizzlies in free agency https://dlvr.it/L5C31J

Sign Conley. Trade Burks for Tyson Chandler who has just two years left but has deep playoff experience/leadership/toughness we sorely lack. Conley adds that as well.

Conley(31), Exum(17), Mack/Neto
Hood(31), Exum(10), Hayward (7), 2nd round sharpshooter
Hayward(25), Lyles(6), Luwawu (17), Ingles
Favors(30), Lyles (18)
Gobert(30), Chandler(18), Robert Carter (2nd rounder)

IMO, that team could win 52-56 games NEXT year and make a legit Finals run the following year if the young ones develop enough.

So we trade Burks to get Tyson Chandler so we can play Trey Lyles out of position for 6 minutes a night?

Genius.

Conley wants to leave Memphis to come to Utah? Luwawu will be ready to play 17 minutes a night in his first season? Think I would rather have Withey than Chandler at this point in his career. Chandler also has another 3 years to go on his contract.

I'm implying that the lack of players under contract, such as Burks and Burke, means at least one trade. That explains Chandler.

This team needs a vet presence to help push them over the hump. Sacrificing Withey is a reasonable price to pay for that experience.

Plenty of players come in and play 17 + mpg their rookie seasons. Is there some specific indication Luwawu cannot?

Also Memphis is in full rebuild and clearly on the decline. Utah is young and on the rise. I think Utah would be an attractive destination for him.

Chandler doesn't fit... I do think we'd trade Burks if we signed Conley, but it would likely be to a team with excess cap space that would assume his contract. I'd want a first rounder out of it too.

Backup center is easy to fill right now, especially since we have Favors who can move between positions. No need to pay an aging chandler 13 M for the next few years to be a mentor and play 5 minutes a night.

I have no idea what Conley wants to do. None of us have any idea what any FA wants to do. But IMO, we are probably the most atractive FA destination if he wants to win outside of Memphis. The Spurs (Parker), Dubs (Curry), Clips (Paul), Thunder (Westbrook), Mavs (just signed Deron), Cavs (Irving), Portland (Lillard), Raptors (Lowry), Hawks (Teague/Schröder) all have seemingly firmly entrenched point guards. I'm not sure we do. I realize we haven't made the playoffs but if Conley is a bright guy and believes us to be nearly as talented as we do (with Hayward, Favors, Gobert, Hood and Lyles) as fans, he may legitimately think the Jazz has a good shot to make a very deep run in the next few years.

As far as Luwawu, I don't know. We may have to address the 3 by signing a cheaper vet who can shoot like Dudley. In fact, that could be a perfect way to round out the team.

My bad on Chandler. I misremembered.

Doesn't fit? One, he wouldn't play 5 minutes a night. He'd play about 17 as shown. More importantly, given Favors and Gobert's injury history, we may have to call on him more often than expected to play 30-35 a night. Also, let's not kid ourselves. Our team is rife with little bitches and we could REALLY use someone with Chandler's make-up to set the tone. Remember, Dirk said he was the most important guy on that Mavs Final team. We SORELY need a guy like that and quite frankly there are very few like that in the league and he is actually one who may be attainable.

As far as Conley goes... If he leaves Memphis, I think it'd be Utah, Indiana, and Dallas if he was looking at teams with a starting position and a chance to win. Lakers and Knicks if he wants the big market. Knicks might actually be decent with him, Melo, and the Zinger. Lopez isn't bad either.

Clearly as far as basketball situations go we'd be number one. Similar style to what he's been playing but with much better wings and a bench.
