That'd be pretty awesome. Hood probably won't get to where he is as good of an all around player as gordon, but I could definitely see him being a prolific offensive player. And he is no slouch in the rest of the game either.

I loved that put back dunk in the last game. I haven't seen that side of hood before. He's actually pretty athletic.

yeah, I'd be surprised if he's ever as good as Hayward on the defensive side.

It's a great idea, and certainly wouldn't make the Jazz any sort of laughingstock.. Teams would be happy we pried young lottery talent away from the defending champs, he's easily one of the best players that could be had, and would be a massive upgrade on an already strong wing unit.

Frankly, the Jazz will likely spend $$$ on a lesser talent..

If it's a trade for Rudy Gay it'll cost $$ and draft picks.. That **** makes less sense, certainly.. he'd just be a rental too..

There's about 25 mil coming off the books that offseason with Hood and Exum's extension.. Favors 12mil is half of it..

If management really does plan on matching restricted deals to go over the cap, this is a good blueprint..

There's teams in that salary range right now, and we're talking being there after 2 bumps up of the salary cap

Burks contract runs thru 2018/2019, so he's locked in til the next offseason.. Barnes would be signed thru 2020, Hayward and Rudy too..


The Jazz can easily fill in 8 roster spots with cheap players if they wanted FWIW, they won't need too but just look at all the future draft picks.. they can do it..
 
Harrison Barnes would take the lions share of his minutes from Jazz superstars such as Trevor Booker, Chris Johnson and Joe Ingles... (Who combined to play nearly 4,000 minutes this season)

Those 3 also combined for 350 3pt attempts..

The Jazz can cut their rotation down with a move like Barnes..

With Hayward getting nearly 3000 minutes, Hood, Favors, Gobert 2500 minutes, Barnes 2300, Burks 2150, and Exum 2000 the Jazz rotation will fill out nicely, they'll only need to plug in the rookies and minimum salary/3rd string players for short stretches, if no one gets hurt.

Harrison Barnes is clearly being underutilized, and he's clearly capable of more, his USG Rate this season was 15.9 335th in the League..

Close USG% players(who also played 2000 minutes) Patrick Beverely, George Hill, Trevor Ariza, Langston Galloway, Gary Harris, Allen Crabbe, Zaza Pachulia, Otto Porter, Hollis Thompson, and Rudy Gobert..
 
The Jazz had 3 players in the top (unqualified) 50 of USG% - Alec Burks (25.9),Gordon Hayward (25.7) and Trigger Trey Burke (25.3)

With Favors(70th) next with a 23.9 and Hood(125th) at 21.5.. (Lyles[225th] was next at 17.9)



Rudy Gay for his career is a 24.8% USG Rate player..


meaning Gay, in a contract year is primed to come in and be a ballhog and Barnes is primed to play a role and then expand on that.. Barnes was just 23 this season, there's still upside for Barnes!!
 
If we could land Harrison Barnes, we'd be nuts not to pull that trigger. What PG_AB is saying makes perfect sense. Where the minutes would come from, rotation fit, team fit. Can't believe this is a debate.

not sure where you'll find minutes at the 4 behind Favours and Lyles.

The idea is to hopefully snag a 3 that'll be fine with a bench role, be able to body up big 3s (or 4s in switches) and hopefully be somewhat of a threat from 3.

I'm not really for Gay or Barnes. Signing Conley is probably the only max i'd be considering.
 
Favors desperately needs a PG who can competently run a pick-and-roll. He'd average 20 a game in half of the teams in the league with his finishing and shooting ability.
