Do the Jazz abandon "the process" this summer?

Barnes was 4-11 from the field today, 3-7 in game three, 1-10 in game two, and 3-12 in game one. That's a stellar 11 of 40 for 27.5% from the floor in this series.

Max this man.

This. As i have been saying, barnes might be our worst wing if we had him. Yet a few people want us to max our 4th wing. Our joe ingles lol.

The underlying argument from earlier was that he is being underutilized and would step up were it not for playing with Curry.

That has consistently failed to happen. As far as your "exactly to his season average" comment, his TS% tonight was 50.5 compared to his season average of 55.8%, but I digress.

What you fail to see is that GSW turned into a defensive force w out Curry. Bogut Draymond Barnes. Everyone knows defenders do not have the energy as much in offense.

Their most efficient lineup is Steph Curry-Klay-Iguodala-Barnes-Green ... are you oblivious to this??

Thats the lineup that put up 51 points(to the clips 20) in 14 minutes vs the Clippers...

that lineup outscored opponents by almost 1 point per minute...

did you watch the game yesterday?? did you see the boxing out he does??? He stonewalled Dwight Howard under the basket on one play.. He dribbles the ball up the floor and can put on a mean double-move and either pull-up or make a good pass.. This is obviously a player capable of more, but he agreed to function as a roleplayer for the betterment of the team..


He plays next to 4 top 40 True Shooting percentage players.. .4 of them.. ya'll want to break his chops because he's not ballhogging and chucking up shots for basic stats, while their winning at historic rates.. Sound Jazzfanz logic for sure.

A thing lost in the "Max Barnes" debate is we aren't looking at better options to max. If we live in this fantasy universe where top free agents choose the Jazz, let's max out nearly anyone else who will be sought after in FA.

There will be multiple teams looking to max Barnes, because they will have a ton of money. He wouldn't choose Utah, a team where he isnt even a top option to start.

No.. I want them to play together, they're complimentary... Barnes would be a great wrinkle in the lineups where Burks brings the ball up..

Barnes would add a much more viable small-ball lineup too..

Barnes plays on the weakside of the offense.. Once Burks/Hayward/Hood slips his defender, and help comes, you kick the ball to Barnes, he's either going to take a good shot, or get a better one, by passing or putting it on the floor.. this is what GSW asks of him.. Defenders are at the mercy of his pump-fake because you have to close out, he's a 38% career 3pt shooter..

Put him next to a player like Lyles and the ball-movement will amplify...

I've been calling for 'vacuum scorers' to upgrade the offense for some time.. Barnes is that dude. He does't waste the shot clock..

96 minutes can easily be split up between 4 'wings' when one or 2 can flex to PG and one or 2 can flex to PF..

Oh so you think the jazz roster resembles that of the warriors so he would not be a wing for the jazz. Fine then he is a big then (unless you think he is a point guard). So now he is our 4th best big. Sweet. Lets pay max money four a guy that plays bookers role. lol.
An argument could be made that barnes is worse than hayward, hood, burks, favors, gobert and lyles. We should definately max him then. lol.

So we should max a guy you call a role player who has insane talent around him (thus likely making him look better than he really is, which right now is only average anyway) in 4 top 40 TS% players?

Not sure if they have $ and I think Batum is a FA but Barnes would be a nice piece for them and what they're trying to do which is add shooters and go smaller.

His shot has been uncharacteristically off this series.. good thing there's a 45 game playoff sample which he's a 43% shooter and 35% from 3.. .

Barnes is the same age as Hood. Who was effective but rather streaky this year too, yet ya want to hold him to the standards of some vet..

He's still got untapped potential, if ya don't see that, so be it. Eventually you will.

His numbers all season have been pedestrian, which you explained away by saying he plays alongside Curry who takes away opportunities from him. The problem with that argument is that every game he's played all season (including playoffs) without Curry he has consistently been even worse. I think we need to start exploring the possibility that the reason his numbers are even remotely decent to begin with is because of Curry, not the other way around. The dude is basically invisible when he doesn't have Green/Thompson/Curry sucking defenders away from him
