What's new

Following 2016 potential draftees

Thon Maker is a legit 7-feet with 9'3" standing reach and a 36.5" max vertical. He runs the floor. He finishes above the rim with ease. He can hit a few jumpers. He can dribble and pass a bit. He can drive, draw fouls and hit 70%+ of his free-throws. He can rim protect and defend out on the floor. He works hard. He's been a top prospect for 3 years now in a loaded high school class. And yet, Deytona Davis who moves at about half the speed and put up 7.5 pts and 5.5 rebs at Michigan State is considered the better prospect by most mock drafts.

There's just no way I can see Davis having a better pro career than Maker.

That is all.

Hard for me to say a player has the "it" factor when they were so poor at finishing at the rim despite being on a really talented team and having elite length. I'm talking bout Baldwin.

Even so, I feel he's better built for the pro game than college ball. Givony asked him that same concern that you mentioned and he said needed to be more focused. I'm sure he'll fix that cuz it's more of a job now and having lack of focus is a no-no in the league.

I think Baldwin will be a good pro. He's got the confidence, the swag, and the game comes pretty easy to him. He doesn't always seem to try hard though, which bugs me a bit when I watch him.

Yes, this is high school. And yes, these are highlights, but look at this ish... Derrick Favors never looked better than this at that age.

Favors looked way better. Way more explosive and bigger frame.

Look how fast he is off the floor. Look at how quick his second jump is. Look at his 3/4 court outlet pass. Look at how he attacks the rim. There's absolutely something to work with here. Favors was 6'9".

Yeah, there is something to work with, no denying that. He isn't the level of prospect HS Favors was though.
