How long until Burks gets injured again?

Locke said on the radio that this year might be a make or break year for Burks. He said that he is injured way too much and when he is on the court he makes everyone worse. If Burks doesn't stay healthy and play within the system better he is most likely done in Utah.

Been thinking the same thing in terms of his not always playing in the system. I like him and it's too bad he's been injured so much, but I don't know how he fits into the team now. Hopefully he can.

Hopefully he is healthy and plays well this year, and they can use him to move up in next years draft. They will likely have 2 picks in the 20's. Would like to see them get up into the 12-15 range somehow (and not by losing games).

He plays stupid. Too much Houdini crap. The few games where he has focused strictly on being a facilitator, he's looked great. Leaves you wondering why he doesn't play like that more often. But Alec always reverts back to the one on one stuff, attacking the basket. Sooner or later, that type of play catches up to you. I wonder if he's ever stopped to think how much he's shortened his career by playing that way. Terrific athleticism but low basketball I.Q. Still have my doubts about him being a good fit in Utah.

I love Alec Burks. Love his competitive fire, fearlessness and OKcalm demeanor. He is the kind of guy that would fit in on any team and when he comes to play he comes to play hard. Probably too hard though. He hits the ground almost as much as he sticks his tongue out. I didn't realize that he just went in for surgery again on his knee and ankle(out of the loop). Then there's the shoulder.

Got this from Rotoworld:

"Alec Burks underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris in his left knee and ankle on Tuesday.
This is the same ankle that Burks underwent surgery on this past season, and while he is expected to make a full recovery well before training camp, it's concerning to see Burks go under the knife yet again. Health has been a constant issue for Burks throughout his five-year career, and after posting averages of 13.3 points, 2.0 assists and 1.0 3-pointer on 41.0 percent shooting through just 31 games during the 2015-16 season, he won't be a very enticing grab in standard leagues on draft day. Jun 8 - 11:35 AM"

So... With the way he plays can he go too long without an injury? Do you guys think he can play in a manner that minimizes his risk for injuries? Would he be productive still? Or do you think he has one gear? And if so is he worth keeping around and waiting for the next injury?

How about we don't talk about this !

Burks has been my favorite player on the team and I hate seeing him hurt. I do agree that this is his make or break year with the team. I'm still hoping he can turn into a jamaal crawford type of player and be our spark off the bench.

I don't think Utah expects too much from Burks this year. They have built this team to not have Burks play. If he does, great. If he doesn't, we will be fine.

Exactly! I think that if the right offer comes along the Jazz may even trade him during the summer. If they do not, early season will be probably enough to figure the pecking order at the 1, 2 and 3 positions. My bet is that Burke ends up traded before the deadline - and rightfully so - unless someone gets seriously injured. We should have in mind that his once big contract is not that big anymore with the increase in the salary cap.

He has the mentality of Jordan(GOAT), but he ends up on the ground way too much. Would love to see him become more of a facilitator like you said.

I'm hoping this is the year he can remain healthy. He's only had one relatively healthy year in his career, in 13-14 when he played 78 games. The other four years were rough, 59 games, 64 games, 27 games, 31 games. It sucks because he is probably our most talented offensive player.

The 59 and 64 game seasons had nothing to do with injury. One of those seasons was only 66 games long due to the lockout and the other missed games were due to a bunch of dnpcd's cause corbin liked raja bell, Josh Howard, cj miles etc more.

Burks has had 3 healthy nba years and one year when he had shoulder surgery and one year with a serious in game injury.

My bad, I forgot about that lockout, and I try to forget some of Ty's decisions. But yeah, hopefully he's healthy this upcoming season.
