What's new

Pick is Gordon Hayward; ESA crowd boos

Makes you wonder how much the jazz try and save money on this . Get rid of boozer and kyle and do nothing to improve this team. At least i know now not to watch or go to any jazz games this year.

no no no :((

why that happened to us? again : (

p.s Boozer will go. And only 3 big players left

paul fes and greek :(

Deron will ask a trade soon

I LOVE THE PICK.

I had been saying I thought he was the sleeper in the draft. There weren't any better options left on the board. Gordon is smart, and we needed another sf. I'm happy.

You guys are insane. JVG said it best. With Carlos Boozer leaving, knowing the fact that AK47 is best at PF and we need depth up front behind Millsap, it makes sense to draft a versatile SF. Of course we could draft a traditional center or a PF who is not undersized but how many valuable of them were remaining? Aldrich? Maybe but it's just a speculation for me. We will never know in a short period of time how well these guys adapt to NBA system and which one is better. The complaints make no sense to me. Some of you even act like you have drafted, scouted players for 20 years. Your knowledge and experience is limited with what you can learn from TV and internet. Hmmm... really dependable. You cannot make everybody happy in this kind of situations.

I hope Hayward will translate his game to Jazz game in a short time and will contribute to the team at a high level.

Keep dreaming. This was a terrible choice.

I see this pick encouraging Boozer to say because Hayward is no competition to Boozer's playing time.

Hayward is also no benefit to the vast defensive liability that is Booze and Okur.

Hayward, Boozer, and Okur are less of a defensive barrier than a speedbump.

Utah should've traded this pick long ago. There was evidence that New York wasn't going to cooperate their way into a top 5 pick anyway.

If you are counting on ak for anything good luck . He will spend his last season hurt AGAIN.

It is a fair point, MiM. Sliding AK to the 4 is something that he would like and would be a different look from Millsap (or Boozer).

What I don't like about the pick is that it is highly unlikely that Hayward will turn into a starter. Ed Davis will be. Paul George probably will be. Aldrich might be.

Hayward might be a poor-defending, white Mo Nutz--in other words, a blanched Almond.

The fans are only booin because they aint knowwin what the Jazz brass know. Ever since the college season ended, Hayward has been in intense training sessions with one of the all-time great ballers, and, now, with his 9th pick contract, he will be payin the guy full-time. In a few years, Hayward will have the best arsenal of skillz seen on the Jazz since Stockton.

Didn't they boo John Stockton being picked?

Good point. People are morons here in a lot of ways. There was NO one there who was a sure thing. It wouldnt have mattered who the Jazz picked, pretty much the exact same people would bitch and moan because that is their lot in life. Only person I would have reather seen was Aldrich. No big deal, it was the 9th pick. Take a shot and see what happens. The moans that this pick makes DWill leave are as stupid too. Who was the guy at 9 who would have made him stay, assuming he is leaving anyway, which I dont think he will. Finally, the race stereotype card is played, as usual. Damn the Jazz to hell for picking the smartest guy who had the BEST workout for them instead of just going for the highest jumper. What were they thinking? Its funny when some of you make it seem like the Jazz HAVE to pick a black player, regardless of who they really wanted, just to make you feel better about your so called stereotype complex.

You go with the percentages. Hayward is just another great Jazz pick that will certainly dominate the D League for years to come.

The problem is that Hayward doesn't project to have the highest ceiling, so people only what players can be at the very top and not what they likely will be. As said, the guys the Jazz wanted were gone, so they had to go to plan B. I'm not a big fan of the pick, so I'll take a "wait and see" approach.

My two cents- with the not handchecking rules Hayward will be able to get into the paint on a consistent basis. He can also pass off the dribble. That said defensively I don't know who he can guard.

I would like nothing more than to cheer the Jazz for good decisionmaking.

However, I don't find this to be a good decision. Hopefully the Jazz FO prove me and other critics wrong. But they haven't done it much before.

NBA ready? 7/10 vs. 8/10 for Paul George.

Bench press? 10 vs. 15 for Babbitt. (On the flip side, George benched only 4x).

3-point shooting? 29% vs. 35% for Paul George. Not even Korver is a good comparison (yet).

I don't see anything that really shows that this pick makes sense.
