Gobert goes to Rio - OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED

Has Lopo infected everyone with the stupid virus? Gobert playing in Rio is a waste of meaningful development time, which typically happens in the off-season. Not to forget injury risk. Terrible news.

Great point. I think we should just put Gobert in bubble wrap until late October.... Don't be such a whiny little baby.

Our players haven't had any playoff minutes to use to get better in "win or go home" situations. Of all the players we had playing major minutes last year, I thought Gobert looked like the one who could use more playing time. And if you're talking about representing your country playing in the biggest international competition of the year that happens every 4 years, then yes, I think this is meaningful development time.

Gobert did not improve last season because he wasted his development time playing for the national team. Getting minutes doesn't magically make you better. You get better in practice, and then you translate those skills to in-game situations.

This is a massive offseason for Rudy. He needs to improve.

Really hoping he stays & I think he knows it too. He'll get a way fatter contract too

Gobert, unlike Exum, doesn't need anymore playing time. In fact he needs less. I don't want him to fight fatigue, if not injuries, again this season. He would be better served to study on his post-up, pick and roll game, FT shooting, body.

All the good luck to him, though.

This is how we all felt I think

I wish I could find the thread, but people with more European game knowledge than me made it out that they were an underdog because certain players weren't on the French qualifying team and they were in a difficult group.

Fair enough. I do remember a few people saying that france might not make it.

Source? What does it matter to a virus what season it is in a tropical country?
I don't have a source in english, but trust me, the topic has been discussed A LOT on brazilian news.

The mosquitoes procreate during the summer and have a low lifetime spam, that's why the season matters.

The mosquito that has the Zika Virus is the same of Dengue that we deal with for years now and Dengue cases go down every winter.

Is it impossible to get Zika during the winter in Rio? No, it can happen.

Is it probable? Probably not.

Will it happen to someone? Probably yes and I'm sure someone will quote this post with a link to the story.

Let me put it this way - I'd rather him stay but I'm not going get my panties in a bunch if he goes. The kid is raw offensively. He'll learn more there than he would working out here in my personal opinion.

No, the hard group had Croatia, Italy, and Greece. Now if the Canadians could have gotten all their NBA guys to play France would have been in big trouble, but without them France had an easy group. France still had Parker, De Colo, Diaw, Batum, Lavergne, Huertel, and others. Fournier and of course Gobert should join. Parker, De Colo, Fournier, Batum, and Gobert make a nice starting five.
