Can/Will Lyles make Favors expendable?

I think Favors best value is at the C position.

I actually think the exactly opposite. I don't have the stats to back it up but from what I could see by watching a bunch of games this last season, Favors matches up much better against 4s than 5s - even defensively. He seems to do a better job when he is bigger/longer/stronger than the player with whom he is matched up with. Besides, with all his physical ailments and nagging injuries, matching him up against smaller players seems a better option health-wise. Eventually, in the twilight of his career, when he loses some of his athleticism, Favors will probably become a full-time 5 as part-time player. For now, it just doesn't seem right, IMO.

By the way, does anyone know if positional stats are available anywhere? Like "Favors as 5", "Favors as 4", etc...

If Lyles plays great through January, I'd be really tempted to trade Favors for a high (top 10) 2017 unprotected 1st. Not sure how possible that would even be but that's pretty much the only thing I'd consider I think.

That would be a horrendously bad move if you want to keep Hayward.

We need to extend Favors this summer and trade him next summer when his contract is extremely attractive.

This tread made realize that no one seems to expect Favors to become a 20 and 10 player anymore, which would mean a general realization that he is close to his peak.

Not sure I trade Favors
Jazz keys to winning will be lockdown sub 90 defense and overwhelming depth.
They lose both without Favors
