VIDEO: Gobert is developing a smooth jumper

Seriously though, he could have dribbled right to the elbow and still had an open shot. That shot will always be open for him. If the center closes to block it, Gobert can go right around him.

1. Gobert has hit one jump shot in his 3 year career, I somehow doubt he is comfortable or ready to dribble into a jumpshot.

2. While I do recall some really nice Gobert 1-2 dribble drives where he takes advantage of an open lane for thunderous dunks, I also recall him trying to do these things and gets stripped or just thrown off by the slightest contact (remember that is how he sprained his knee). I doubt his ability to just drive around a closeout especially since I dont think bigs will have to work that hard to closeout with his slow and low release.

My natural reaction to the title of the thread is to scream "But he should be developing post moves!", but Gobert learning to shoot from middle range is actually cool and may open things up a bit - not only for him but for his teammates also. Besides, he seems somewhat fragile, so I don't think he is particularly suited to bang inside (Does this sound like a pun in English?).

Someone on the beggining of the thread said that he should be working on the sky-hook. It is a difficult shot to perfect, though. How many good sky-hookers (Now the pun was intended!) we saw since Abdul-Jabbar retired? I can't think of any. Mutombo tried it every now and then but I can't recall anyone else.

I think working on his free throws would be a better use of time. He disappointingly regressed from 62.3% two years ago to 56.9% last year.

I don't think we can conclude much of anything about what he's actually working on based off of a 30 second video of him shooting jump shots. But yes, I'd like to see him hitting a much higher percentage. He's got pretty good form that you'd expect he'd be hitting in at least the 70s somewhere.

It's nice and all, but take it with a grain of salt. Most big guys in the NBA can shoot like that in practice. Game time is completely different.

As long as he doesnt full extend his arm on his release he will probably always have a mediocre and inconsistent FT%.
