What's new

Grant Jarrett

Were you following the Jazz when we had Amaechi? Literally, the worst player we've had. He came with a lot of hype, too.
He also had a reason to get a guarantee. He played well the game year before.

I never followed him in Orlando other than the stats. Just remember being lukewarm on a "center" scoring 10 PPG who couldn't rebound. Everyone hyped his jump shot opening things up for Malone and media kept showing clips of his mid-range J. In fact, those clips may have been the only time his midrange J was seen. Plenty of worse people than Garrett have gotten guarantees.

Jarret was a scrub at Arizona who left after a horrendous year. He never deserved a NBA contract but somehow he got a guaranteed deal.

How many times is(are?) Portland going to pick up players the Jazz have had but threw away? GRANTES WES MATTHEWS was a totally great pickup by them, and I cursed them for getting him, but, really... how many examples of Portland just riding on our coat tails do we need before it becomes comical??

Jason Hart was better?

I think the issue with Hart is that he was at least trying to play basketball. Ameachi acted like he had never even picked up a basketball once arriving in Utah. He had no desire to play. You could have picked a greencoat guarding the Delta Center aisle and got more effort at center.

But, of course, Sloan only hated him because he was gay.

I'm hardly a great evaluator of basketball talent, but the rare times I saw him play I saw absolutely nothing that suggests he'll be anything but a 4 year sort of career NBA player. Like I'm sure if you put him in a Y league he'd dominate but I'm not even sure how he's in the league against NBA talent.

I don't think I've hated any Jazz player ever more than Ameachi. Well maybe Kanter, but at least Kanter gave a **** half the time. Amaechi was about the most worthless player I've ever seen, and he's such a pompous c-word to boot. He actually wrote this in his book:

"The problem was not my commitment to the game. I was working as hard, with what I had, as anyone on the team. The truth is Sloan and Jazz management hadn't done their research - otherwise known as scouting. They could tell you all my court tendencies, how I played the game and why I should fit into the system. But they knew nothing of my character."

So it's the Jazz's fault that they didn't know he was a lazy ****.
