I Think More Deals Are Coming Down

Either by signing veteran free agents, a 2 or 3-1 trade or something like that. It seems like we have five million point guards right now and there are teams in need of a backup. I could see one getting shipped with a non guaranteed K to Sacto for one of their bigs which could be Kotas. Just a hunch.

Sometime I can wonder about you...

Literally all that will happen between now and the season is the exension of Rudy and either Hill or Favors (probably Hill)

Nope. Roster is set.

1. Rudy Gobert
2. Derrick Favors
3. Gordon Hayward
4. Rodney Hood
5. George Hill
6. Dante Exum
7. Alec Burks
8. Trey Lyles
9. Joe Johnson
10. Boris Diaw
11. Shelvin Mack
12. Joe Ingles
13. Jeff Withey
14. Raul Neto
15. Joel Bolomboy

Kendall Marshall and Chris Johnson will be cut. And I'm assuming Marcus Paige is not fully guaranteed and will ink a Dleague deal after training camp.

Is it normal for a tam to carry 4 PGs? I have no idea, just wondering...

Not really. But under the circumstances I don't see why they would move one now. Mack played exceptionally well last season after the trade and is on a cheap deal. And Neto has potential and is on a rookie deal. Four solid PG's can't be a bad thing. If pt becomes an issue they can move one at the deadline.

I think with the team as constituted and with a PG coming off a major injury, that it's a wise expenditure of talent, especially considering the fact that they have a few potential combo guards, depending on the lineup, depending on the game.

The defensive combo of Exum-Hill is going to be too tempting as an elite perimeter defensive combo for QS to not play. And I'm expecting a lot of time for Hood at the 3 and for Hayward's minutes to drop to keep him fresh by season end.

That was meant to be a like rather than dislike.

I could see Mack moved if someone sent an okay asset... Otherwise I think the roster is set and it will only be extensions coming. I doubt we do a Rudy extension unless it's less than the max though. Cap and risk reasons. If he wants to take a slight haircut we'd lock him in though.

I may be the only person that thinks this but I am not convinced Rudy is a max player for the Jazz. Some teams will more than likely give him the max but he needs to be more consistent for me to jump on that wagon. Particularly when it impacts our ability to hang to and pay some of our other young talent. His play last year and his play in the Olympics both give me reasons to wonder how much coin he is worth. I love his game and love that he is on the Jazz but not sold on the max.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think Rudy is the single most important piece to our success now and going forward. I throw this stat around all the time, but last year we were 20-11 when he played more than 25 minutes. The year before we were 19-11 when he played more than 25 minutes and Kanter was out. That's a combined 39-22 when he played significant minutes as a starter and 39-64 when he didn't.
