2011 draft.....

There is generally a consensus among mock drafts that the top five players are:
Irving, D. Williams, Barnes, Kanter and Sullinger.

To me (at the moment), Irving and Williams look like the best talent.
Kanter, Barnes, and Sullinger all look like they'll be solid if not spectacular pros.
Then T. Jones, Vesely, and maybe P. Jones all look like they're worth the risk.

At this point, the odds are strongly against the Jazz's pick falling out of the Top 7, so at least two of these players will be available to pick from.

Again, Jimmer is great, but how will he play on a team where he doesnt dominate the ball? Give me Smith. Scores at the same rate, better defense, more assists, less turnovers, AND all of this in a tougher league.

I love Smith. But here's an argument for Fredette over Smith. He isn't opposed to playing in Utah. The announcers on tv tonight said that Fredette's favorite player was John Stockton. This is kinda rare and may mean Fredette's long term value to the franchise would be greater than someone else. I mean, no need to trade him before his contract's up to make sure you get something for him, ala Deron.

The question is - will Fredette have any value in this league anyway? But this is being debated in at least a couple other threads already.

I'm just thinking that even if you could definitely say Smith is a little better than Fredette, you might still want to draft Fredette given Fredette's personality, his favorite player being a guy who doesn't chase money but stays loyal to the team that drafted him, and if I were selling tickets/merch I know Fredette would sell a lot in Utah.

But once again, I love Nolan Smith and I'm not saying one is definitely better than the other. They're both studs.

Look, we dont draft Jimmer. He turns out be to be a good player, in 4 years his initial contract is up, then he resigns with us, right? I mean, Utah is the land of the mormons, its where all his friends are, its his favorite basketball team.

Wrong, he grew up in New York. His favorite team growing up was the Knicks.

Bentley- interesting point. I hadn't thought about that. My only retort or hope is that the upcoming lockout fixes that problem ala the NFL. If it doesn't then maybe you do lean towards a Jimmer over Nolan so you can keep him around. Huh.

I think we need to draft a basketball player.

All of this discussion is cute, but can we get back to the topic of this thread - our lord, savior, and lost Jo Bro - Jimmer Christ?

He won't be able to guard Eric Snow right now. Plz darft.
