Tibor Pleiss Tells Spurs no

Poor Tibor. Gets bought out to not play. Team packages assets and cash to dump you. Receiving team waives you. Rest in Pleiss, bro.

Financially if I'm not mistaken because of some min contract exceptions it makes sense to not play in the NBA. Had he signed a min contract with another team, then he'd collect the "buy out" sum, but everything he'd get on top of that would basically go back to the prior team to limit their expenses as he'd been contracted originally through that season unless the new contract is richer than the old one(Which never happened afaik)
Overseas he's getting the buy out money plus the whole cash that Istanbul pays him

This headline is misleading, saying he spurred the Spurs but in reality TP wants to play and his best opportunity is in Turkey and not the NBA.He made a smart financial move while getting to play. He is an end of the bench guy in the NBA and stated several times he wanted to play. After getting trade and then cut he figured he wasn't going to get enough playing time in the NBA and took the international deal which allows him to receive his NBA money + his new salary. Best wishes and I think he made the right move.

He was waived, not bought out, so there is no buyout sum to collect.

If he signs in nba, he only receives the signed contract value. The new team pays whatever they sign him for and the sixers pay the rest.

If he sign overseas, then he makes his nba salary plus his overseas salary.

If he would have been bought out, the buyout money is his to keep, his old contract is shredded, and he gets more money from a new nba contract.

So the Spurs made this offer knowing that he was probably going to turn it down, right? It surprises me they made the offer in the first place, and now I'm even more confused.

he made his money, now he just wants to play basketball not sit at the end of the bench, not that hard to understand. It was obvious he was never going to play many NBA minutes after last year.

Dunno if i'd be going to Turkey given the current climate there tho ...

Turkey...

The land of opportunity (if your a member of Isis). Poor Pleis-SIS is going to hang out with a bunch of dudes who aspire to be Enes Kanter! Hopefully they actually pay him. But, let's be honest folks. Not PleisSIS was not our best asset.

Did someone actually edit the title of this thread? I get the sense maybe one of the mods is a little bored in life. Perhaps a girlfriend or blowup doll could fill the void that is leaving you with too much time on your hands.

Not that I am aware of. If it was changed it wasn't me.

What the hell??? LOL.

By the way, he'll earn 700k dollars. Less than 1/4 of his NBA contract.

He's gonna hang out with ultimate summer league legend Austin Daye. I'll probably watch a few games live.
