Push Withey for the 3rd C spot?

Need another body for training camp?

It's for the D-League obviously. The Jazz sign these players so they can come in for training camp and cut them. Their deals have like 50-100K guaranteed so the players agree to stay in the States and play for the SLC D-League team.

They have been doing this for the last 2 years so IDK why it still surprises people.

For me, I don't get why you'd scramble and sell off assets to jettison payroll then go and spend some more when they're under the cap and that is that much less money to offer on a renegotiation for Favors.

My understanding of the cap and where exactly the Jazz sit in that picture is less than it once was. So I'll just hope/assume that there's an endgame that actually positively matters.

I think it was late last week or early this week where the Salt Lake Stars traded a 1st round DLeague draft pick to obtain Simms rights. I think the Jazz have to bring him to camp so he can joint the Stars. It might be one of those $75,000 signing bonus deals to make the DLeague salary more platable.

Last year in the DLeague 15.7 points 8.7 rebounds Pleiss 12.3 points and 10.5 rebounds. Sounds like a worse version of Tibor.

I'm assuming they are working on that.

So I get that Dennis really really likes to move these fringe players in and out of Salt Lake. But I must admit I don't have a clue why.

No matter, as long as Simms will stand for the Star Spangled Banner he probablywon't really make an impact this season.

On an interview a couple of months ago I think he said part of the reason was to change the image of how Utah has been perceived by the rest of the league. I.e., these fringe players get rotated out but tell their friends and former/future teammates that Utah is beautiful, the team is a first-rate organization, they were well-treated, etc. Then as perception slowly changes that will help e.g. serious free agent signings in the future. This is part of why they really wanted to bring back the Utah Summer League as well--to give even more players a positive experience with Utah.

That makes sense. Part of a long term, in depth PR campaign.
