OFFICIAL GAME THREAD PRE-SEASON VS BLAZERS 8PM MT

Favors and Gordon looked ready to go.

Gobert looked less interested in holding on to the ball than last year. He lost an early one and immediately started complaining to the ref.

Hood was not ready.

Exum got some well earned burn. His inside game though is a long, long, long way away.

47 wins.

Meh. Pre-season. We'll get better. Incorporating new players isn't easy especially players that will demand minutes by their experience level alone.

Hahahahahahahaha

When log is the voice of reason on the Jazz

Hayward and Favors have been working this summer. One of the two will be in the All Star game this year.

Observations

Both Favors and Hayward have an alpha dog presence, poise, confidence and seriousness to them. They will be clear team leaders, even with presence of new vets.
Favors shooting stroke is more relaxed, smooth and confident.
Hayward is playing significantly stronger. Could be that I am used to his late-season fatigued play
Exum's shooting stroke on his 3s is different -- more in front of his body. Looks like he'll be a 67% shooter this year based on large sample size (sarcasm -- and a dig at Saint Cy)
Exum still looks like a boy out there. Some bad decisions forcing passes and no confidence at the rim. But, I'm still on the bandwagon.

It's just a pic of Harping in an old-timey football helmet. Has nothing to do with me being a misanthropic *******.

Yeah I get what it is. It's a good avatar and it's funny. It also gives me the impression that you're screaming all the time.

For Jazz alums Kanter had 29 points 10 rebounds in an OKC overtime loss to Read Madrid in Spain and Grant Jarrett had 9 points and 3 rebounds for the Blazers on 3-3 shooting in about 10 minutes of PT.

I'm trying to balance out my rep score to zero with this alt since colton forces me to have this assigned rep score :)

Uh oh, looks like someone has forgotten the difference between Rep and Rep Adjustment Power. ;-)

Your representation of the arguments made against you and what is being hyped here on Jazzfanz is pretty much a lie. Intentional misrepresentation of what is being said. Yes, you get an unfair rap for your cautious stance but you're just as bad.

No voice of reason there. Just dramatic flair.

Anyone else see Diaw and think French John Amaechi?

In what sense? They are poles apart so far as players and in ability. Diaw is just getting used to the system. Wait'll the season gets underway -- he still has a lot of game. Did you see him play in the Olympics?

I didn't watch him in the Olympics. Thank you for renewing my hope.

I guess it stemmed from all the love Diaw has been getting in the past few weeks for being an intellectual, a man of many interests, and liking coffee. It just reminded me of how Amaechi fancied himself an intellectual and was a big, mostly-bald black European that came to the Jazz in his mid thirties. When Diaw looked slow and out of sorts last night, the comparison really rung home.

I'm hoping I'm wrong. I'll try to continue to believe in Diaw (and Johnson and Hill.) The Jazz have had a habit of bringing in past-their-prime big men. For some reason it really sells to the fan base and we continue to fall for it.

True...

Big Al... Marvin Williams... Richard Jefferson..
Mo Williams... Raja Bell... come to mind.

Not always successful.

I don't think guys like Diaw and Johnson, and probably even Hill, are going to be try harding it out there in the pre-season.
