OFFICIAL GAME THREAD PRE-SEASON VS BLAZERS 8PM MT

A few early takes:

** The starters will in all likelihood be Hill/Hood/Hayward/Favors/Gobert.
** Hayward and Favors look like they may have taken another step. They're physically very ready. Gobert looks good too.
** The starters looked pretty good together and jumped out to a 13-2 lead before the first substitution.
** This is where things get fuzzy. It's not clear what the rotations will be outside the starters.
** Joe Johnson doesn't have a clearly defined role yet. He doesn't know where he's going and what he's doing yet.
** Dante Exum is still getting his sea legs under him, but appears to be ahead of Mack and Neto in the rotation.

Lots of laziness tonight. The Jazz aren't a sharp team. Hopefully that will improve during the season but it's been a persistent problem.
I'm not knowledgeable enough about the intricacies/nuances of NBA offenses, but the difference between the sophistication and execution of off-ball action/screens between the Jazz and Blazers was startling. Jazz offense still looks like the same rudimentary garbage Quin started implementing 2 years ago; Jazz players continue to go around off-ball screens (when there are any) at half-speed. Worrisome.

George Hill will demonstrate why he's going to be the starter for at least this year, expecting Exum to be running around like a chook with its head chopped off for the first 20-25 games

Hill didn't play all that great but nailed Dante's game right on the head tonight. :)

I think the system is fine, but the execution is awful and has been for some time. It's not just the offense either. Our guys consistently blow defensive coverages and make boneheaded plays on both ends. Despite our size we often play soft and don't work harder than the other team. Our focus and disciple baffles me and I don't understand why it hasn't gotten better.

I think a decent portion of that is just the quickness of the Blazers vs us.

Because they don't know what "exponentially" means?

Irritates the **** out of me.

To be fair your avatar makes it seem like everything irritates the **** out of you.

Bolomboy looked decent. Nose for boards.

Man, he looks like a FREAK athlete. Kid looks like he could jump out of the gym. Also, worried that if he squeezes the ball too hard it'll explode!

Bolomboy is noticeably bouncier and quicker to the ball than other players his size. He's an interesting energy player.

It's just a pic of Harping in an old-timey football helmet. Has nothing to do with me being a misanthropic *******.

He is athletic, but when I see him move he looks like a center. He doesnt have the fluidity of a Booker.
