I've got mixed feelings on the Jimmer. On one hand, I'd like to see Utah take him at #12. I don't believe he's ever going to be a starter in the NBA, but I can see him coming off the bench and being a momentum changer. On the other hand, if Utah passed on him at #12, and then he gets drafted 1-3 picks later, the meltdown on this board would be quite entertaining. I guess it's a win-win.
I don't think there would be much of a meltdown.
I like The Jimmer, and even I still think there are probably better options.
I like his shot, and I even think somehow he would miraculously get better on D to be a little below average for the NBA... and still I am 50/50 on picking him at 12. We need a shooter, but we need so many things it's tough to say what we need more. If they pick someone at 12 that was projected at 25.... then there would be a meltdown.

I just like the options the Jazz have at 12. At PG there's probably Fredette, Smith, and possibly Knight. At least one of these guys will be there - maybe all of them.
Or someone projected in top 10 might fall to 12th. That player may not be worth selecting (Koufos fell), but then again they might be.
It is NOT a no-brainer to select Fredette at 12. His value transitioning to the NBA game is a hotly debated issue. It's a question that no one has been able to put to bed yet, and I'm not going to try to here. That aside, there are other perhaps less-important but still significant reasons for the Jazz to choose Fredette at 12. He's already embraced Utah, and the organization/fan base shouldn't have to worry about him bolting after his contract is up. This team now needs an identity and Fredette definitely has one. Everyone in the nation is smitten with him and his presence in the locker room, in the arena, in the state, promises to galvanize everyone around him. Deron was so talented but he was such a sour puss. He wasn't the most likable guy in the world. Fredette might be, and it'd be fun to cheer for him. I liked hearing that Fredette's favorite NBA player was John Stockton. Fredette's popularity in the Jazz kingdom might rival John's.
I really like Nolan Smith, so if Fredette's gone at 12 but Smith's still there the Jazz might be getting the more complete player. Knight is certainly taller and younger and may have a higher upside. They may not even grab a PG. Regardless there's gonna be options at 12. But if Fredette's there, which I think he will be, I think the Jazz better have a pretty strong reason for not selecting him.

If Beno Udrih can start in the NBA, so can Jimmer who's 2X more talented.
