What's new

Game Threads?? Jazz @ Spurs

Also, I was not a big believer in Dante after his rookie year. I've seen enough flashes this year to open my eyes. The defense was always good enough so I wasn't worried he wasn't going to be an NBA player, but the offense was just weird. He's getting where he wants and you can tell he's lining things up and his defense was great tonight.

Totally. I thought he did a great job his rookie year of staying within his comfort zone and not trying to do too much. The fact that he did so well basically straight out of high school was good but he had so much more to improve. Then he had that summer league game and showed a glimpse of what was to come offensively. Now he's starting to give us more glimpses. I think he has 2-3 more years before he's nearly the player he'll be in 6-8 years... and by then it might be the Dante Show.

Dude, it's Australia. You probably have to wait in line for the chance.

luckily the Bourke St Mall is pretty cosmopolitan .. don't think anyone will raise an eyebrow

just bear in mind if you do see photographic evidence, it's unseasonally very chilly at the moment...

So, obviously going 15-31 from 3 is not gonna happen every night. But it's so important that those sorts of nights come against teams like the spurs rather than the sixers, suns etc.

Of course it won't be this nice every night, but 48% from 3 for a single game doesn't exactly set the world on fire, which makes me even that more pleased at the result of this game. If we came in and shot like the Blazers did against on opening night and ended with the same result you could just say "well we were ridiculous from 3 and that's why we won". Love that we had a very good, but not unbelievable, performance shooting the ball, we rebounded well, took care of the ball, and held the Spurs to a rather pedestrian night of shooting. That type of game we should be able to put together a bunch of times throughout the year and if we can put them together against good teams we should win a good amount of those.

Best win of Quinn's career.

Hill is a flat out stud for this team. An absolute steal for the 12th pick in that draft. I hope he is re-signed for another 3 years or so.

I know it's not a ridiculous percentage, but I'm pretty sure it's gotta be close to the jazz record for made threes in a game.

Defensive rebounding was an issue for the Jazz late in games last year, so the Jazz coaching staff went back and watched every rebound in a close game during the off-season. One of the huge areas of focus was getting all give guys on the defensive glass. The Jazz only allowed one offensive rebound in the fourth quarter.

Dante Exum had four block shots and I believe three of them were 3-point attempts.

There were some interesting matchups during the fourth quarter. When the Spurs put Kawhi Leonard on Rodney Hood, the Jazz just moved Rodney to the high wing and removed him from the play to make the game 4-on-4. Any time you can take Kawhi out of the play, it is a win for the Jazz. With George Hill and Joe Johnson, there is enough offense for the Jazz, even if Rodney is removed from the equation.

Aldridge doesn’t like playing Rudy Gobert.

Derrick Favors didn’t play the second half of the game as part of his minute restrictions with a bac-to-back tomorrow.

This is an alarming loss for the Spurs.

Just one game

I just got home from work and saw that we won! I almost dropped my phone tbh. I really wish I could watch is now. Is there any way I can watch the game online right now?

I love how Quin has absolutely no shame in exploiting mismatches and switches. I LOVE IT! If he smells blood he's unleashing the dogs and keeps feasting on it until the opponent adjusts... then find the next mismatch. This is a very underrated part of our offensive gameplan and once we are fully healthy he will absolutely destroy teams with this. Yeah, we might not be the most top-heavy team, but we have some incredible weapons against specific matchups. Very few teams in the league have the defenders to to defend 3-4 good ballhandlers and if they do, even fewer would be able to defend the power of Favors on the low block.

This team is built to win a ton of games. When healthy this team will be trouble for anybody really.

Man, it's been so long since we had a quality team, and a quality win like this.

I must admit, I've forgotten how to celebrate a victory such as this... LOL ...

I hope he retires as a Jazz man to be honest. I mean he gets bounced around enough. He got traded to IND because the Spurs wanted Kawhi, then when he thought he would finish his career there (he admitted this during introductory interviews), IND traded him for a more dynamic PG in Teague cos they wanted to up their pace of play.

I think he's looking for a place that will appreciate him for who he is as a player and I think the Jazz might be that perfect place/fit for him.

Exum has looked a lot better these last 3 games. Loved seeing him attack and dish a pretty assist after getting called for that shooting foul -- an idiotic call; if anything, he fouled the screener, Dedmon. Nice to see Lyles get going as well.

On the negative side, Joe Johnson was ball-watching quite a bit, which improved Kawhi's looks. Can't afford to play off/lose a player of that caliber.

I wrote this down as a 20 pt loss. Glad to be very wrong. The shots were falling, and we didn't fold during crunch time.

All of these wins with out Gtime are huge. Lets hope we can put the Mavs away at home!
