What's new

Jazz are #1 in the nba

Bolomboy needs to be with the Stars, IMO. He's too raw to get meaningful minutes right now, especially with the emphasis more on winning games now than giving rookies developmental minutes.

I'm not saying this from the perspective of developing Bolomboy. I'm saying it from the perspective of strategy. When surrounded by multiple players with good offense, I don't believe he hurts us offensively at all. Defensively and in transition he's got what we need physically without giving up speed that we'd lose with Withey or Diaw. His rebounding efficiency is what tips the scales for making him a net positive relative to other players in a number of situations.

To;dr San Antonio has had a reputation of utilizing a player's strengths while hiding a lot of their deficiencies. Our current team is structured such that Bolomboy really is that guy where I feel it'd be most prominent.

You do have to admit the schedule has sucked rocks. "Hey you just finished your game? Get on the plane tonight and get to New York for your 5 road games in 7 days. And then we will give you a day off before you have to play again!" The fact we are going to have 3 and 4 day layoffs later in the schedule kind of pisses me off. That type of schedule can get people injured.

So disappointing with all the length on the Jazz team they are dead last in the NBA in rebounding ....

Yeah if you don't adjust for pace. Our defensive rebounding rate is 2nd best in the NBA. Our offensive rebounding rate is 26th, but I think that is by design as Quin wants to eliminate fast-break opportunities for the other team by having everybody get back ASAP instead of seeking out offensive rebounds.

The offensive rebound thing has been one of the biggest changes in today's NBA that goes much more unnoticed than the amount of 3-pointers getting put up. I believe last year, league-wide offensive rebound % was the lowest it has ever been. Our Defensive rebounding % right now is above 80% which would be the best ever. This is obviously due to the changing NBA with bigs farther from the basket more often but also many teams will prioritize getting back over offensive rebounding. It's a legitimate strategy many coaches have gone to. I do think you can argue with a Favors/Gobert lineup, you should crash those boards whenever you can to take advantage of teams possibly playing small though.

Hill has been ruled out for tonight as well. So 3 more man games missed.

Jazz are tied for #1 in the league

In playing the same minutes as the opponent

Joel Bolomboy is #1 in the league in

DBPM at +20.0, and it's not even close. The nearest is +5.5 and Gobert is +4.5

I don't think it would really do any harm to start Bolomboy. He's a rebounding, hustle guy and he'd be surrounded by some scorers like Hayward and Hood so we wouldn't be leaning on him too much. If he blows, take him out.

lmao. No way in hell. That could do a lot of damage.

please no. I'm a Weber State alum and still see that this won't work.

It does not make sense to not play Bolomboy when Fav is out and Diaw can't play much and his energy could help.
