RealGM: Jazz Prioritizing Extension For George Hill Over Derrick Favors

If Clarkson was such low hanging fruit, why was he the 46th player chosen in the draft?

Because most people saw him as an undersized slashing SG who couldn't shoot. He just really improved his overall offensive game. For example DX has him 31st in their mock draft. And he still isn't a point guard. He is however a good player.

Boo... So they're gonna let Millsap and Favors walk without getting jack **** in return? Sounds wasteful to me.

How could you not conclude they've squandered the return from the Deron trade?

Why would any GM make a go forward decision with looking backward logic?

I'm quickly losing my enthusiasm for this team.

This sucks.

I was a knicks fan, I've seen 30 year old trade targets get big extensions and **** a whole team and salary cap royally many times over..

I wanted Tobias Harris and Harrison Barnes both of whom can play 4 in the past 2 offseasons, either would've provided futher insurance for this entire issue.

It's just a matter of perspective. Some people see things as incremental upgrades and other see them as errors compounding themselves over and over.. if the cost is Favors the asking price is way too high.

I remembered Eddy Curry being one of the Knicks worst signing ever. He put on like 100 lbs during his time as a Knicks.

George Hill confirmed out tomorrow vs Rockets.

Exum is getting alot of needed minutes as a result and hopefully making it obvious to Snyder he's ready to assume a bigger role. When Hill gets back, Hill and Exum could set the standard on perimeter defense in the NBA.

I agree, but to chastise any team for not drafting him in the 2nd round is bizarre.

Some smart folks on this forum and both sides of the discussion have been hammered out pretty well. We could go on for days about which player is more valuable to the team, but it all comes down to opinions. They're both two of our best players in my mind though I would argue that Hill is the better leader. So it all boils down to the fact that Hill's deal needs to be hammered out now to retain him, which gives us more time to assess Favors injury proclivities.

Though we obviously have more options at point guard than we do at power forward at this juncture, I would argue that the point guard position is more important to a team's success. This is the quarterback position folks. And as unpopular as this is to say around here, Exum though a valuable two way player for us, has not proven to me that he's even close to being the team floor general and leader. The knowledge necessary to know a player's preferences and find them in rhythm, and the instincts and confidence to know when to do it yourself is subtle but ultimately the difference between winning and losing. In contrast, though Favors is an elite four in this league, his durability is a question mark and Lyles is further along than people give him credit. Also the uber-athletic Bolomboy only needs the minutes to bloom and show what he can do.

As for a time machine reference, I told all of y'all in the summer that we should have traded Hayward and Favors for #1 to get Simmons.

I hate to say this, but there is a chance Hayward walks this summer and we give ridiculous money to an injury prone PF in 2018. The result? Still a borderline playoff team.
