Some smart folks on this forum and both sides of the discussion have been hammered out pretty well. We could go on for days about which player is more valuable to the team, but it all comes down to opinions. They're both two of our best players in my mind though I would argue that Hill is the better leader. So it all boils down to the fact that Hill's deal needs to be hammered out now to retain him, which gives us more time to assess Favors injury proclivities.
Though we obviously have more options at point guard than we do at power forward at this juncture, I would argue that the point guard position is more important to a team's success. This is the quarterback position folks. And as unpopular as this is to say around here, Exum though a valuable two way player for us, has not proven to me that he's even close to being the team floor general and leader. The knowledge necessary to know a player's preferences and find them in rhythm, and the instincts and confidence to know when to do it yourself is subtle but ultimately the difference between winning and losing. In contrast, though Favors is an elite four in this league, his durability is a question mark and Lyles is further along than people give him credit. Also the uber-athletic Bolomboy only needs the minutes to bloom and show what he can do.
